Title: Target Hardness Question for FSO CMs ...
Post by: Rodent57 on September 06, 2017, 06:12:50 PM
Pantelleria 1943
Friday Squad Operations Frame 2 OBJECTIVES (sent Friday September 8, 2017)

Has conflicting instructions:

In one section it says, "The following targets must be attacked by the Axis Forces and defended by the Allied Forces;
British Fleet (4,14) – [8] Ships 10 Pts ea.
Hardness: CA – 3,500 lbs. DD – 2,730 lbs.
The following targets must be attacked by the Allied Forces and defended by the Axis Forces;
Medium Airfield (5,12,8) – [8] Hangars 10 Pts ea.
Hardness: FH – 2,730 lbs., VH – 2,730 lbs., BH – 3,500 lbs."

Later on, it says, "All Hangars, Cruisers and Destroyers will have the same destruction weight of 2800 lbs."

Now I'm a graduate of a public school system, but last I checked, 2800 lbs does not equal 3,500lbs....nor 2,730 lbs (though 2800 lbs worth of boom should drop 2,730 lb target hardness) ....

So, to allow us to plan accordingly, please clarify.

Thank you,

- Rodent57

Hey Rodent,

I asked the same question for Frame 1 and was told the hardness stated in the Objectives was correct:

Hardness: CA – 3,500 lbs. DD – 2,730 lbs.
Hardness: FH – 2,730 lbs., VH – 2,730 lbs., BH – 3,500 lbs.

Good Luck with Frame 2.

Thank you Sir!

That being the case, I request that the Objectives letter be amended to state ONLY one set of numbers ... (I'd suggest simply deleting the line about the 2,800 hardness).

Not trying to be a pedant ... just looking for a straight story.
