"...the busiest airfield."
Very nice. I hated hitting the takeoff button and finding I was out in the wilderness.

That has pluses and minuses. I often move to a field where there is no action because it is so loud in the tower with engines and stuff. Not a bad change overall though.

Didn't it use to do this already? :huh

Of course, on some maps the lowest numbered field also happened to be the busiest, like A1 on Mindanao. :)

Why login and instantly hit a runway button? Not looking at the map at all?

SA (Situational Awareness) always starts as soon as one clicks an Arena to log in to! :old:

One day, I hate to say, the kiddos may look at AH and comment, "They don't make them like they used to." Then they'll probably try ... just to find out it was more than a business model or coding that made it worthwhile. In the meantime, we're being infiltrated by spoilers that 'know the game better' than everyone else .... or think they do.
Carry on
And play
Like the kiddos
Might learn someday

The problem is so many ideas seem to be to make it more like other games. I don't understand this.
It's like people watching a game of basketball and going, "You know what would really make this game better? Full contact." Now while it would entertain the hell out of me to watch Aussie Rules Basketball for a while, it's not the same game at that point, and likely isn't going to retain the current fanbase all that well.
Lately, I've fallen into PUBG hard for whatever reason. It doesn't mean I want AH to become anything like that game, because different games scratch different itches for me. I just don't understand why people want every game to be everything to everyone. It seems to me like a lot of people want to log into Entertainment Game(tm) which will have available whatever kind of gameplay they're looking for at that moment whether it's FPS, Flight Sim, RTS, CCG, tiddlywinks, or hockey.
It seems like for some reason people don't think it's ok to play different games for different reasons.
In between FSOs and scenarios, the way the MA plays at its best is how I want to play AH. It's fun, it has the pace it has, and you never quite know what you're going to get. For me the MA is practice for the events. At prime time it fulfills that role for me reasonably well. Outside of that time, I look and if there's nothing going on, I find something else to do.
A lot of people seem to want this to be like WT or WWIIOL. If they want that gameplay so badly, why aren't they playing those games instead?
Rounds based gaming has its place, but for me, there's nothing like open world multiplayer PVP. This is one of a very few games that involve vehicles that has this.

When a player launches the game and selects "Online Arenas" and "Melee Arena", they will be logged in to that arena and shown in the number of players online. Glad to help. :D

Because at the time you saw 30 people online playing, it was right around 2 to 4 PM +/- over in Europe area and it was 7 to 9 am here in the continental US...meaning both areas of the world were mostly working real life jobs or attending school/college
At the time you said the number of people online playing was 50, it is 5 to 7 +/- PM in the European area and players are getting off work and home to log on to fly/play.....and it is 12 to 3 PM here in the states and US players are either taking lunch or are back to work finishing out the work day....
Did you seriously need that explained to you.....

And all that was true before, when we had 100, 150, 300 and more players in the MA at this very time we are having ~75 right now.

I was not comparing numbers, from previous 2008 to current....
Just trying to give him answer

My guess is there was a net difference of 20 people, between the two times, which caused the numbers to change.

So why in 2008 you had 100 poeple vs 30 in 2017 and 300 vs 100 ?

Unless you are a stock holder, or an employee, of HiTech Creations, Inc., I am pretty sure you are not going to get access to any of that data. Just a hunch, mind you.

Why they stopped playing?
Lifetm, other interests, they grew up, they got families...

Some actually died. Do you have an idea to fix that?

Some actually died.
Yes and just my squadron alone, lost whels, LW (LoneWolf), X2Lee, RTR and 1 or maybe 2 more since 2008.... They were awesome squaddies and felt more like Family than just some people you played games with....going back further we lost Buzzard, Niff, KGann and a couple more as well... All of my "Damned" Brothers were well respected AW then Aces High community members
[Do you have an idea to fix that?
Heh, y of course he does

RPS fixes everything, don'tyaknow.

POTW have had at least 2 members pass, while over time about 50-60 players have come and gone as squad members. If you research financial studies, one of the biggest problems with millenials as consumers is they want everything for free. Some give them the credit with leading the movement to cut the cord from cable and it's fees, while some point to the millenials and their lack of disposable income since 2008 creating the era of FTP, pay to win, bait and switch games. AH wanting money for a full time subscription is hard to take for some of them once the word Free is associated to AH at Steam. To them, that's an unsustainable demand in a reality that sustainability is one of their most important ideals.
I don't think nuget cares about this game or playing it, he has a captive audience in our forums which is far more important to him. Hitech provides an excellent soap box while exercising the patience of Methuselah to look at ideas no matter how dead the horse has been beaten. I hope over the years he has received his bribe as Christmas presents from his fans for this.
By the way, it almost looks like when the field you are at is captured, you are moved to the next field in your country with the highest amount of activity.

Makes sense. Even then, if ya wanna take off from a less busy field, you can. One might claim AH doesn't offer many options .... but it really does. The point of this thread, however, seems to be .... how can anyone claim they can't find the action when the game, itself, is programmed to place you there?
-

It isn't. It's programmed to take you to the "most busy" field, which, in my timezone, doesn't necessarily correlate with "action".
But I forgot. I just have to believe in things, then they will happen. :aok

You're misconstruing 'Just do' (must be a cultural gap). You may still actually have to DO something (ie: switch sides). You may have to actually apply logic (What do the side numbers look like? Which side to I change to? Which side has a large squad - or two - logged on? Do I want to be an underdog in an active fight or do I want to be one more pilot in a horde?) You disappoint me, Snail. With all the charts and graphs and studying of all aspects of the game you devote so much time to, I'd figure that much was obvious. If you're presuming it's not obvious to me then I'm even more disappointed in you.
Anyway, carry on. :salute

I can definitely tell you in all truth that part of the reason "this" 2008 player was not playing on the date of your observation was in large part because of people like you. Drama queens and pisspoor pouting princess attitudes drove me away from the game more than anything else. It is a great game plagued with a small, but all too vocal - unfriendly player base who made being within range of or spamming forums and text buffers with endless, pointless drivel attacking the game, the creators, the players and rarely, if ever, have a kind, positive, or constructive word to entertain themselves with. Hope that helps clear up your question(s). Enjoy a nicer day than those you troll.

Halo, you might want to give it a new try. There seems to be a lot less bad attitude (at least in Rookland) than there was a couple of years ago. At least, that is my experience. I think some of the most vocal whiners voted with their feet.

Occasionally the grumbling crescendos on 200, but there's an easy solution for that. Most of the time the arena's not bad at all. Squelch early, squelch often if stuff bugs you. :)

One of the more positive things I found upon my return for the Steam release was the unexplained absence of the usual "Cheaters" / "The game is rigged!" crowd on the knight side. You know the names... :noid

I hadn't noticed it but now that you mention it you're right. Hmp. Collision model still comes up though so at least it probably doesn't feel too unfamiliar. ;)

Come to think of it, I have not nor hear others complain about a few of the AH3 flight visual anomalies since the Steam release like the funky chicken maneuver by 190's while running away.
