LOS just after 4:55 AM this morning, local JPL time. :salute
Launched in 1997. What a plucky little spacecraft.

She did her job well under such great pressure, alone and uncertainty voyage. At the end of 13 long years she preformed great giving us spectacular images and data of Saturn. At the end the planet engulfed her to the abyss as she is now a lone alien for ever.
:salute

The words of Commander Riker - "Tough little ship".
Amazing photos and info provided by decades old tech, those who built and "flew" her should be commended. Great sat/ship, I hope many future missions follow suit.

That's a male look at it.

No, we just infected it with foraging pathogens.

That image makes it look we just inseminated saturn with a probe.
So now instead of worrying about V'ger, we will now have to deal with C'ni when its freak of nature child decides to come back to earth to look for its father. Jerry Springer cant wait to get this on his show. Least we dont have to do the whole 20 paternity tests and still cant find the father

No, we just infected it with foraging pathogens.
Quite a lot of effort is now expended to prevent that......not sure about earlier probes.
-
They would have to be some tough little pathogens to survive the entry into Saturn's atmosphere. Pretty high temperatures and pressures I think.
Reminds me a little of the plot to "Monsters" scifi movie, except it was Earth that got infected.

Don't worry, when the denizens of saturn come knocking we'll put them your way "thems the varmints that dropped a nuke on Saturn"
