Title: ETO and Pacific map ?
Post by: nugetx on September 16, 2017, 02:02:29 AM
Can we have an ETO and Pacific map on the MA?

Ofcourse appropriate scale for the gameplay.

HiTech already told you NO on numerous threads you have made.

he also told you that YOU can make any map you want in the free arena.
besides we already have these in the various scenarios- like Hell Over Hinterland and the Big Week scenarios.
What game did you still that ^^^^^^from?

I'd like the Westland Whirlwind added to the planeset. See what I did there?  :)

With appropriate evenness on all sides I dont see why we couldn't have a map like those.  The territory for each chess piece just wouldn't be realistic to any actual war.

because Nugetx want's it played historically like starting in 1939 all the way to 1945. day by day month by month year by year. from how and when the war started and ended

Nuget,

You and this audience knows from your past conduct that you will put your fingers in your ears and repeat, it's only real if Hitech answers my questions so I'm ignoring all of you fun police, nenner, neener, neener. Even Hitech has his limits, he is very nice but, the only over worked programmer for this game. He provided a free terrain building editor for his customers.

1. - How many square miles are in 25x25miles? Then transpose that to a 20x20 terrain and a 10x10 terrain. There will be your square mile limitation for the real world transfer of a geo map.

2. - Ask the AvA and Special Events terrain building teams how they get around the limitations in 1.

3. - As Devil linked you to the Terrain Editor forum, Artik has a free program in there that will pull in any geo map you point it to based on his instructions and burp out a terrain editor compatible heightmap file for you to import and turn into a terrain for the arenas.

4. - The Melee arena terrains have to be balanced for 3 sides because it's a sandbox fantasy combat arena using WW2 toys. It is not WW2 being simulated. Unless you can wrap your reality around that fact, you are barking into a dark empty room with no one willing to help you.

As Devil pointed out, you want a terrain, get of your tushy and build your terrain just like the rest of us paying customers do.

I wish these were adaptable to the MA!    :old:

Everything's 'adaptable' to the MA. But .... the MA was designed to be the 'big sand box.' Every plane against every plane on a 'balanced terrain.' I think of it as the ultimate practice field for everything AH. Historical matches don't belong on 'planet MA.'

The maps are great though.   Love them.

I've tried twice to wrap my head around terrain design (honestly, to create a big ocean terrain for BB on BB battles and fleet air cover) but it's been a cramp in my tookus, so far, and I tire easily and rarely go back. Gives me respect, by far, for Bustr's effort and talent.

It's not easy.  I can't even get my map to show up offline.

Nuget,

Bustr I have no talent for designing stuff, but I'm sure you with your knowledge of the editor and AH would make a great ETO and Pacific map.

It's not easy.  I can't even get my map to show up offline.

1. - Make sure the terrain name is 8 or less lower case letters.
2. - Put one field on it so you can enter a tower offline.

If you have named it with too many letters, go into the terrain editor and do an export. Then you will generate a heightmap file. Start a new terrain the same size but, with a proper name. Eight lower case characters or less. Do an import and go to the directory of the first terrain where the heightmap file was exported to. It is named hight.raw, import it as a singed file. Then carry on from there offline to look at your terrain. Oh, and you will have to repaint it at this point.

My first oceania project version I named it solomonils and the terrain would never load offline.

Sorry you couldn't pay me enough. Just join FSO and the special Events which are all historical.

Good info.  Thanks.  I will try it.

Arlo,

More Arloipegalos popped during the cleanup...... :aok

Before when my imagineering turned to fudge and my brain quit.

After when the Arloipegalos popped up to take a look at the cleaned up terrain.

Streams and lakes and bridges Oh, My...at least no hephalumps and woozles.... Crappp, I had to use grass at the top of the tree line because of the large areas of only grass tree tile on those steep slopes to tie it together visually. Now I'm thinking I want to update some of the other islands this way. It's a never ending madness thinking up better looking tile combinations. :bhead

Why do you derail thread? All I asked was for the map.

because you have ask for the game play that this or these maps would be used for.
