Hey there, folks --
Returning player here (flew under "TheTick" fifteen years ago) excited to try AH3 with my Vive. Unfortunately, I've run into an issue: AH3 refuses to read the analog input from my X52 and Saitek Pro Pedals.
For troubleshooting I have:
- Downloaded and Installed Latest Drivers
- Performed Calibration both in Windows 10 and in AH
- Confirmed Operation of both the HOTAS and pedals in "Elite: Dangerous," "WarThunder," "FSX" with FlyInside, and "DCS World"
- Run Both USB Cables Directly Into PC, and Not Through a Hub
Unfortunately, despite numerous attempts, I can't get the sim to read my stick or pedals as input devices. (I never see the analog data update from 0 to its full range, nor change when I perform input.)
As mentioned before, the system works perfectly in other sims, so I'm confused.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Avindair

You didn't mention assigning functions to the controllers?
VR and desktop settings are saved separately. Be sure to assign in VR mode.
If windows sees the controllers AH should see them. I have saitek pedals and they just plug and play.
-
Unless there is some other software interfering with the game being able to get to the stick(s), they should work fine. It is a popular combination. Works fine at the office.
Have you tried using the sticks/pedals without any Saitek software? Did you try an calibrate each axis in the game?
-
1. Yep, assigned functions. (Forgot to mention that.) No joy.
2. Tried it both in Vive and on my 2D monitor. No joy.
3. Also, initially just tried with the Windows 10 drivers for the hardware, THEN installed drivers on the off chance that this was the issue. No luck.
Confused.

Which AH3 installation, regular or Steam?
Buttons all work?
Any axis assigned as buttons?
-
In case you're not familiar with the new feature, if an axis is assigned as a button press it no longer works as an analog axis. If you scroll down you'll see each axis listed with min, mid, and max. Make sure none of those were auto-assigned to anything for the stick and pedal axis.
-
used to be you could tell what button did what when you pressed it. Does not do that now with all controllers. Works for my stick but not throttle or mouse. Have not checked pedals.
-
Yes, the button press still works.
-
If it is a new computer with USB 3 ports then try USB 2. They are usually color coded albeit they are hard to see.
Are you using a USB powered hub?
-
So, I found the issue, and it was something embarrassingly simple.
I thought I'd closed the "Elite: Dangerous" launcher, but instead had minimized it. Result: AH would apparently not read the inputs.
Now? Works like a charm.
Thanks for the input, folks.
That all being said, AH3 in VR is just amazing. Love it to death. I'm flying this on my second, slower VR system, and I'm enjoying a rock solid 90 fps. My SA has improved ridiculously, but I've learned once again that I can't hit the broad side of a Death Star with my guns outside of 2D.
Guess I'll have to practice!
For the record, this older system is:
i5-3570K NOT OC
GeForce 1060 6B
16 GB RAM
120 GB SSD Boot Drive
2 TB 7,200 RPM Data Drive
I'm going to try this next on my i5-6600K and 980TI to see if I can up the graphics...though, frankly, once I'm in VR, I think it looks terrific right now.
Thanks again, folks.

1. Make sure you have the clutch disengaged in windows
2. Calibrate in windows
3. In the game, ensure calibration
4. Ensure mode 1 & mode 2 are set correctly and auto select is checked
5. Ensure there is a profile set up in the game (mode) for the pedals
I had a similar issue when I started up with my X52 in AH3. A little tweaking and pushing a few buttons around I was up and running.

Thanks for posting the fix Avindair.
Try N95KF's recommended settings if you haven't already.
Gunnery will improve as you get used to VR.
