Title: sound rotated 90 degrees
Post by: NatCigg on October 11, 2017, 06:20:44 AM
my sound seems to be rotated 90 degrees right. my right wing has full sound, my left wing has verry little, an noce range inbetween.  as if the sound was rotated 90 degrees right.  iirc this problem has been since beta.

What is your speaker setup in Windows?  Are you using a headset?  Have you enabled any type of sound processing in Windows?

The game does not have direct control over sound placement.  We just set levels and Windows chooses the speaker to play it at.

Skuzzy, doesn't FMOD impact the sound source's "direction"?

All we (and FMOD) do is build a sound based on the virtual location then hand it to Windows so Windows can figure out how to play it.  We have no physical control over which speaker the audio is actually coming from.

Which speaker the sound is coming from is up to Windows.

If you do any kind of post processing of the audio, there is a good chance it will mess things up.  If you do not set the Windows speaker configuration correctly, it will mess things up.

speaker setup is for two front speakers. yes i have a head set, it is not set up as default speaker in windoes or game. i do not know of and changes i have made in windows.

THe sound is not placed on my speakers wrong.  The sound when my view is to the right gives full Engine volume. the 3d sound effect caused by lower volume related to view direction from virtual source, is rotated so the engine sound is centered to my right angle view.

Where do I adjust to fix this problem?

What plane (engine location is what I am looking for)?

the horizontal plane has the engine position rotated 90 degrees right. as if the right wing has the engine.

the plane is N1K2-J

i can try more planes, though i thinks its all of them.

i tried a few more, they all have the issue of engine sound in planes is rotated to be loudest when looking at the right wing.

I noticed something similar in the ground game as well.  I believe at the time I was using 5.1 through a headset.  Tanks I knew were in front of me were sounding as if they were firing on my right.  I'll have to see if its changed now that im using stereo and the dolby virtual surround sound.

Do not use Dolby processing.  It will mess up the audio.  There is no Dolby signal to process.

Any post processing of the audio will mess up the audio.  Those things are meant for applications which do not provide true 3D sound positioning.
