Title: Lt. Darwin Addis - P-51D "MOLLY" (99) - 325th FG, 319th FS - AH3 Update
Post by: Vraciu on October 16, 2017, 11:30:18 AM: Darwin Addis' P-51D-15-NA updated for AH3. I never posted the update initially and have given it another pass since. This is probably the toughest one to get right of any I've done so far. Those checkers are a nightmare.

Thank you, sir. It's still a little "off" and I'm working through that trying to figure out what it needs. Those checkers are brutal. The contrast is so hard to work with, especially where it transitions to metal or has panel lines/gaps.

It looks better from inside the cockpit. I finally have a method to make the reflections look wavy like a metal wing that has skin dimples and wrinkles/waves should instead of a steady sheen. I guess I'm picking up on stuff as I go. It's crazy how I couldn't understand what you guys were trying to say early on. My eye simply wasn't calibrated to the point it is now. Also, AH3's engine really has improved things over AH2 I think.

That's the issue I am trying to resolve. Well, one of them any way. The real airplane is pretty flat. The transition on the skin is a tad stark though and I haven't found the right balance.

Would an HTML size tag work?

Thanks, Bustr. I hope I can make it better. I’ll just keep trying new things and seek to stumble onto something that works. It is probably a similar process to your improvements in map making. You think you’ve done as good as you can, then you look back a year or two later and realize you were wrong.

His wife was Margret Lee ( MOLLY) and had two daughters and One son.After he retired he taught at TriCounty Technical College and lived the rest of his life at Lake Keowee, South Carolina. He was born In Walhalla, SC
