Just reinforced my reasoning for not flying scenarios. Waiting 20 minutes to get a squad invite. Never happened. My second and final time trying to fly a scenario since returning.

Wasn't there but usually you'll need to be there early. I see you waited 20 minutes so I assume you were in fact early. Also, you should try and private message a CM about filing for a side that has a low turnout. Moreover, you should be vocal on chat; join a side and every 3-5min just put a friendly reminder that your down to assist with whatever necessary.
The key with being a walk on is flexibility. You need to be willing to fly whatever for which ever side. Sometimes that is a 262 or an SBD. So there is a catch to being a walk on.
I don't for see anyone blatantly ignoring you. I've been a walk on a lot as well. I get there early and see which side needs numbers... I than get too that side and type on Country channel to see which Squadron needs more people. Follow those steps and I can almost guarantee that you will get a uniform to fly.
There are fun experiences. Don't let past experiences ruin it for you! :rock

I’ve been here for a long time. Every scenario has ended the same. Last time I make that mistake.

ok now Becinhu.... I done got you marked to fill in for Elvis' slot for next week, since he isn't going to be here.... had I known just 2 to 3 minutes sooner, I would have invited you to fill my only open slot, but I invited someone else, because he was 2 to 3 minutes earlier..is neither of your faults... crap happens
There will be room for walk-ons in every frame of this Scenario..... Sorry that it didn't work out for you this time
Cheers
TC

He was there in time.
If he was saying on channel 2 "guys, I still need an invite into some squad or instructions on what to take off in" and no one replied to him after he asked a couple of times, that doesn't sound so good.
Becinhu, did you say anything on ch. 2 text?
-
he did Brooke, multiple times, even after I couldn't take him, their were iirc, F6fs and P-38s slots not filled....I think this is what got him upset
just my view of it
TC
edit: that's enough from me....I had a blast.... I think everyone I talked to did.......now I got a week to rest up for an FSO frame and a Scenario frame, lol
Thanks for throwing this together, <S>
-
f6fs were full soon as walkons came in.
was a blast!
-
Yikes. Sorry about that, Becinhu. If you were calling on ch 2, I'm not sure why you didn't get a plane, as things were not completely full.
If you want to try it again for frame 2, I personally guarantee you a plane -- if you are there, I will not start the frame until you are in a plane and ready to go.
-
I appreciate it Brooke but I’m done. Not wasting my Saturday to sit in the tower and be ignored.

I understand. Just to be clear, though, there is no way that would happen if you try it next time -- I will not enable flight until I check with you in person to see that you are settled. But it is totally up to you, and my best regards to you. <S>!

Just to point out, it’s not always the easiest to see a someone requesting a ride, with people chatting on different vox’s, different text chats being used, and other guys requesting rides. The 38 guys were literally shooting you an invite as you left.

Becinhu, I really think you are shooting yourself in the foot if you give up that easily! Scenarios are the very best part of Aces High and always great fun to participate in. The best way to guarantee a place is to register in advance and fly the plane of your choice from the start! That way you get to be part of the side forums and possibly help with planning each frame, or at least getting to see the plans being made and have a better idea of what will happen on the day. However, if for any reason you do not register - like being unable to commit to at least 3 of the frames - then walkons are ALWAYS more than welcome. I can only think it was very bad luck that you didn't manage to get a ride today and I can absolutely guarantee that if you give us another chance you will definitely get one next time - and that you will have a fantastic time as a result. Please come along next week, and I for one will be watching out for you! :salute

Yep, I know that for sure Bfoot. It is for sure information overload at the start. Things like this definitely can happen from time to time -- there is no malicious intent about it at all. Also, you guys are all good eggs and standup guys! :aok I very much appreciate the job you do of it. :aok It is not easy.
I just wanted to offer Becinhu the option of trying again if he wants, with a situation that will accommodate him for sure.
<S>!

I don’t register because I work on Saturdays. I can only walk on if I happen to get a day off. I passed up fishing today to fly. So I wasted my day. I won’t make that error again.

Becinhu,
You are sounding like me close to 2 years ago... Yep, I was hanging my flight gear up for good, done made up my mind to quit Aces High and walk away for good....and I most definitely would have if it wasn't for Brooke talking to me through PMs....Now, I did not participate in the scenario I had signed up for nor was I a walkon...
But Brooke talking to me reminded me of the reasons I loved to play, he reminded me of my enjoyment of helping others or teaching someone something new....he reminded me of all my long time 20+ years friendships and brothers and sisters.... Brooke taking his own personal time to talk to me, kept me from walking away from something I love to do....
with that said... I know that Flossy posting, trying to get you to give it another try/go, is with the same heart and spirit that Brooke spent on talking me into staying.... I know this because I know her.... It's probably around 2am her time, her typing bcnu was being tired and exhausted...was nothing cute about it....
Now, you can take your ball and go kick it around by yourself next Saturday, if you have the day off or you can bring it here and we can all have fun kicking the ball together (the ball is a reference to meatballs aka zeros..since this is about flying scenarios)
I done posted that I need you for an empty F4U-1A slot I have open next weeks frame 2

That's too bad. Sounds like they're a bunch of very nice people to me.
Clearly by all of their comments they would have welcomed you to fly, but things sometimes happen.
Don't be so hard on them and maybe give it a another shot. You could be missing out on a great time.
Good luck. :airplane:

I flew scenarios as often as I could before I took a break from the game ( about 3 years). I have been back for just over a year and have tried 3 scenarios...last 2 I have been ignored. Just not going to waste a free Saturday again. It has nothing to do with the people that organize or fly them.

I will also jump in to say that if I had noticed you asking for a squad I would have said something to my CO; we were short a pilot, and I think other squads were short-handed as well. I believe it was an oversight in the confusion of organizing this. For me scenarios and FSO's are the most fun part of AH3. My hat's off to all who put in the extra effort to organize and lead. :salute

My apologies if my use of BCNU caused you offence, but I was only using it as a reference to your name. Maybe I am wrong, but I always read your name as "Be seeing you", which always reminds me of one of my favourite TV programs, "The Prisoner" where it was used extensively. It was definitely not said nor intended in a malicious way and I'm sorry if that's how you took it. :(
I only wanted to add my voice to those of Brooke, BFOOT1 and TC in trying to persuade you to come and fly with us next week. I have been flying in scenarios since my very first experience of one as a walkon in "Guadalcanal" in Air Warrior, around 1998 I think. I couldn't even fly then, but was delighted to be taken on a Kate as a gunner and have never looked back - well except from a gun position! :D
I do remember trying to walk on to my very first scenario here in Aces High, where I had a very similar experience to yourself; only in my case I thought I'd been insulted. It was only later that it became clear that I was in fact being told to contact "banana" who was running the event. Once that had been cleared up, I joined the following week and have participated in nearly every scenario since, the only exceptions being a couple that were scheduled to run later in the evening, which would have been around 3:00 am my time.
Anyway, I really hope you will reconsider returning next week - you say you have flown in scenarios before so you do know how much fun they are. We just want you to continue taking part in them! :salute

Oops, banana was not his name but it has been changed by the profanity filter. It began with a W, ended with r and had anke in the middle!

Oh I knew what you meant. And you are correct on the “acronym”. However the context had the opposite effect of what you were going for. I’m not offended. That’s nearly impossible to do. But nevertheless I won’t be back for a scenario, most likely ever.

We who registered, waited a lot longer then 20 minutes before we could fly.

....and it was well worth the wait! :aok
Not to mention the banter with squaddies, some briefing time, etc.....

No you are not, oboe. 20 minutes is a very short time to wait, especially with so much going on before the frame starts! Even as a registered player, I always try to get into the arena about an hour before take-off time (half-an-hour before 'show-up time' when the arena is usually locked). Getting everyone organised takes a fair bit of time for the squad leaders, who are also in constant communication with Command staff at the same time. We were lucky in our squad that it filled up quickly, but any squads who were short would be kept busy trying to grab walk-ons to fill their seats and 20 minutes would pass very quickly. Barely enough time to notice someone asking for a squad to join, deciding they need someone, looking back over the text to see who it was, replying with an offer..... no reply.... check roster.... find the person has left the arena.
Anyway, there is only so much we can do. I'm looking forward to another great frame next Saturday as scenarios are my absolute favourite part of the game, I love them. :x  :old: :airplane: :bolt:

I agree completely Flossy, I don't find any fault with the organizers or command staff here. I don't know where Becinhu got the impression that as a walkon he should be situated and settled in a squad within 20 minutes of logging into the SEA. That's just unrealistic in most cases I think, and if he's participated in scenarios before he must be aware of that.
-
Let's just leave this as is.... If Becinhu ever wants to participate in future scenarios, be knows that he is always welcomed....
The F4U-1A slot that I was giving/holding for him, has already been filled by another person, at Becinhu's request...
All is good
Time to finish planning for frame 2
