Title: Stop Base Capture and Manned Guns in the MA for a Tour

It would interesting to see if the air to air boys get their wish by the air being filled with X-M3 drivers and X manned gunner's.

I am in if they want to give it a try.

Without base captures possible, not much of the game makes sense.  Strats, supply, troops, tanks, bombers.  What exactly would those fights be over?  It would turn the MA into the WWI arena with better planes, and we can see how much that gets used.

Bombers could still bomb what ever they wanted just troops would be disabled.  Not sure what they would do about the task groups and manned guns.  Tanks could still battle each other.

Show me a quote where the "air to air" guys want base captures stopped. Stop with the exaggerations!

Many players would like to see the re-supply of the towns curbed a bit so it isnt the FIRST thing a player looks to do when he/she sees an enemy plane on dar at a base.

Instead of eliminating base capture I thing once a week there should be a period of time when nothing comes back up except hangers and maybe dar. I'd be interested if it would invigorate the map. Best defense would be a good offense.

How about making sups work for resupplying towns only if they have 30+ min of down time... that way you resup bases so they don't get snuck. But resupping them during the middle of an attack would not work.

There are multiple threads asking for game changes to increase air to air combat.  Not sure how you see this as an exaggeration.

It would be an interesting test.

sounds like an utopia to me. 

I bet the skill levels of those who resort to jumping in guns, GVs and m3 resupplying at every opportunity would increase (practice makes perfect) resulting them having more enjoyment and success in the air resulting in a positive cycle of increased aerial combat.   Making everyone much more amicable and friendly.     :airplane:

How about "Steal the Bacon" where all sides start with one base only?   Go!

Or a more randomized, non-contiguous territory lineup like Wheel of Fortune?

That could be interesting.

When AH started it was only fighters. Then bombers, towns, strats, GVs were all added with the intention of providing more areas of conflict and so combat.

The "air to air" guys are looking for COMBAT. How would removing all those things added to CREATE combat help in making more combat?

Most people can see this, thats why I see your statements as exaggeration.

Again the problem isnt that you CAN re-supply the town, but that it has become the "easiest" way and so the number one go to way to defend a capture. The number one way should be jumping into a vehicle or plane to defend it and re-supply as a last resort.

removing everything GV'rs do is not going to make them fly a plane, they will just go play another game or log off until the map is won, but wait that means the map would have to time out-uhh no thank you.

sounds like another attempt to make people play a certain way. again no thanks.

First I need to ask this question...How do you guys feel about the bases on Bustrs new map? The ones like TT bases,with  maproom on field with no towns. I personally had some of the best fights in a long time,at those bases. I believe the reason why M3s are the go to defense,is because SOMETIMES its the best/fastest to defend with. You cant watch the whole map and still be able to up planes and vehicles in time. Yes, I agree, that THIS has been mutated a bit. Now since it MAY BE THE most effective, it gets biggest use, even when other options could be used. I believe that having the maprooms on fields with or without towns could help both attackers looking for a fight AND defenders? With maprooms at field, you can be effective defending it FROM THAT FIELD. Sure, Sneaks might be reduced, but it may be a good thing to look at? It sure was fun for me,last few evenings. Still have to have coordinated efforts. Stopped a lot of takes because guns and hangers got out of sync. Plus there isnt much you absolutely need to supply on THE FIELD, to save the base. With the number of items that would need to be destroyed,it should provide possible defenders some modicum of ability to defend the base. Just deack and run troops? No, I am talking about maybe adjusting what it would take to make those base capturable/Wflagged. Just a thought

Well why would someone intentionally WANT to do things the hardest way?  I don't see people jumping in M3s full of supps at the first radar blip of bombers inbound.  I see it when a field is capped, the town is WF, and base capture is imminent.  That follows a fight unless it was a NOE sneak attempt.  There isn't time to get there (at that point) from another base.  You can up from the field, but you won't make it to town.  So what IS the realistic (i.e. - actually WOULD work) solution at that moment?  Run a GV.

Personally, about half the time when I could run supps, I take an M-16 instead.  They're just as fast and do a great job on running troops.

Many people have posted that they have seen and heard people call for supply runners as soon as that buff icon shows on dar at a base. That is what should be stopped/discouraged. When you can up, or get there in time from another base Then it should be the go to move.

Just like the NOEs of old. There was a time that it was like 90% of the missions run were NOE. You spent the night chasing flashing bases looking for the guys running NOE. No combat. HTC adjusted the dar and NOEs became less used.... tho you still see them they were NOT done away with....and now there are missions intercepted and combat ensues.

I hope HTC adjusts the supply routine of the M3 to make it not as convenient and so not the "easiest" move to make.

There would be virtually no combat when the map comes up, as there are dozens neutral undefended fields to be taken. You can easily figure what that would mean during off hours. Free base captures for everyone. Yay.

See it all the time while attacking or defending M3s moving into town prior to it being hit.

Doubt you'll see many NOE missions, due to the narrow window of 60' before you pop on enemy radar.

I don't have a screenshot but the player was Valkyrie recently who did it and if you look back in these M3 threads a bit you will see Snailman and I talking about it.

Just because you haven't noticed it doesn't mean it isn't happening....and the fact that the M3 is still the most used even with troops disabled shows that I'm right and your wrong.

^^^^  Exactly.  I hate flying buffs.  If you told me that fighters were not available for a month and I would have to fly a buff I would simply leave.  A GV based player will not suddenly love flying, they will likely leave.
