When we hear stories about boats and the damage they take from WWII, most include holes in the hull, taking on water etc. I'd like to propose an enhanced damage model that instead of just losing guns, you:
- start taking on water and listing
- as you start to go lower into the water, you slowly loose engine power
- your boat becomes harder to steer
- you can turn on your bilge pumps, but they take 20% of your horsepower/top speed way and only lessen the time it takes to sink
- if you incur taking on too much water, your engine dies as your boat goes lower into the water
- your boat can eventually swamp and sink from damage
Just adding some cool effects to the PT boats...any maybe future player controlled destroyers :x

This could be carried over to planes as well.
If the engine is smoking from oil/radiator, then it should not perform at 100%.

What! Do you mean to tell me you cant run full power and wep when your engine is damaged and blowing oil everywhere?
:rofl :rofl :rofl
:salute
PS: I'd like to see some differences in the way oil gets smeared over the canopy and a reduction in power output, add in a more finite damage model for both A/C and GV/boats!

My car used to smoke like that. Performance was less than nominal. :old:

I agree. I'd like to see some sort of oil smear animation caused by wind effect, but I'm sure that would kill Frame-rates. Some type of variation of the oil splatter
would be nice though.

so the oil splatter on the windscreen on most planes currently used is not good enough? have you flown a F4F with a oil hit-you can't see out the bloody windscreen at all.
and a radiator hit will kill your engine faster than a oil hit.

Either way, engine performance should degrade upon engine damage.
Have you ever flow an F4F with radiator & oil damage that ran at 100% efficiency, until it just all of a sudden quits? I'm sure there is some degradation in between.
Sounds like you enjoy the gameyness of it as it is now.
When I get in my car after a rainstorm the windshield doesn't look identical to the last time it rained. (hands on knowledge)

F4F doesnt have a radiator its a radial

I've never flown one. :)

ANYWAYS, back on target Maverick.
