Title: VH walls
Post by: ML52 on November 20, 2017, 03:36:28 PM
Do the new walls around the vh channel blast damage back toward the building? If so does that mean that bombs that land close enough to have the crater touch vh walls now actually do damage?

What about bombs that drop just outside the walls?
Do the walls protect the VH from the blast?   :headscratch:

Can the walls be destroyed?

I really don't understand the whole enclosure concept. The enclosure definitely makes it easier to capture a field for two reasons. The first reason is that the enclosure forms a sort of pseudo womb and during attacks, tanks are reluctant to leave the protection. Therefore an attacker only need set up a few key strike points, a poorly staffed VH is easily manageable from the 17lb mount and the tanker can move around to avoid providing a set up shot. The tanks will stay contained and troops may be run with confidence. Alternatively, an attacker can enter the kill box and set up for a camping shot that is highly protected from both auto and manned guns.

The second reason that enclosures facilitate attacks is by removing the direct line-of-sight from VH to map room. It used to be maddening to watch the M3 cross the plaza, knowing they were also watching from the tower and waiting to spring a wirb or something just as the M3 goes by the VH, maybe a couple tanks to keep kilroy busy plus a jeep - I have seen it all. Storch pilots, that's my favorite, that trick works exactly once. Anyway, that's all a thing of the past.

As an attacker, I LOVE the barriers, as a defender, I wish we had not been saddled with them. Now, when you see bombers approaching a field, you know you will have to stop and reverse your wirble, not once, but twice as those bombers are bearing down on that kill box. Don't even mention vulchers, you are totally protected from them and they you, while inside the enclosure.
That is why I do not understand them, because I was given to understand that they were added as a response to camped VH's, an activity they seem to augment.

Do not know exact ideas behind the design, but with teamwork the tanks can break out of containment. If there is a friendly spawn near enemy spawn then you can up a fast vehicle and chase M3s as they run towards the field. GV quadrant is a great help in this. Attacker can enter the kill box to camp but other targets outside the box are protected from him as well. Before you were out in the open when coming out of VH, now you have immediate cover. Range channel from people in tower also helps.

Instead of upping a wirb you can up another better maneuvering vehicle to get out quickly and shoot the M3.

I usually get the Wirble out with one reverse and so far somehow I recently managed to drive it out in one smooth movement. Was not able to replicate that in following sorties.

You support my statement. This change makes gv defending have higher learning curve. Before, noobs could spawn and save the day with a wirb. Now they have to manage to drive out in one smooth movement before even starting and the "safety of the box" is the last thing you want. Trust me I know how to defend a field. You come out swinging with all you got and when they knock you down you make it very clear that you are getting right back up again. You already hold the high ground, you spawn adjacent to their target, the map room. Eventually they will all be driving in from the spawn while you up right there. If you are not timid.

they need to change or get rid of the walls around spawning VH--its a death trap-its even easier to camp VH now
