I must make an extremely difficult decision for Thanksgiving Dinner.
The green bean casserole.... bacon or no bacon?
-
You are not a true american if you leave out the bacon
-
Why ruin it and actually put in green beans too?
:rofl

Nearly everything is better with bacon.
My daughter's first complete sentence was "I love bacon."
-
It should be called: Bacon with green beans casserole.
-
Better yet, take out the green beans and casserole. Just serve a giant bowl of bacon
-
If it is good bacon yes definitely, just not that wet soggy or burnt stuff.
-
Has to be Canadian bacon. :D
-
:salute Happy thanksgiving all :salute

I am somewhat ashamed to admit that I have never seen or heard of bacon in green bean casserole.
Alternative question - French cut or regular cut (for those of you who didn't skip the whole green beans part of green bean casserole to begin with)? I say french cut - it's the only time I don't look for crisp green beans.

Same here.
But guess what goes into the casserole tomorrow!

Heck, you can toss bacon into almost anything.
My Mac & Cheese & Bacon is a big hit around here. My bacon pancakes are awesome too!
About the only thing I refuse to put bacon into is my Chili.
-
Bacon in chili just reminded me of one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth. A friend of ours made lasagna with bacon. I almost physically loved that meal.
Wiley.

Have not tried bacon in lasagna, but I did make spaghetti and meatballs with bacon in the meatballs. Oh yeah. Good stuff.

Your not alone Mike, never heard of bacon on GB casserole
Oh, and no french cut beans
-
You had me at bacon. And why ruin perfectly good bacon with green beans?

I too never did the bacon in that casserole but we eat beans and bacon all the time. My preference is French cut unless they are fresh from my garden.
-
Bacon won by a mile. Green bean casserole with bacon and fried onions on top was a bit hit. The vegetarian GB casserole had leftovers - the bacon laden one, not so much.

Less food = higher state of consciousness ; these days people just eat out of boredom, to feed their false sense of self . Back in the legends when they needed their prayers to be heard, they would fast, there is something that awakens the spiritual in us when we deny the flesh. If you want your "thanks" to be heard, can't just show up in front of the boss with a belly full of sentient creatures.

I like a nice red wine with my sentient creatures

Well heck, did you see what they were eating back then?!?! I would fast too if they put that carp in front of me! Yes, praying for a proper slab of bacon!

Bacon was invented in Britain :old:
Like all good inventions it was stolen by the colonials.

Sorry Zack, but the known history of bacon traces it back to China (circa 1500 B.C.), with speculation the Greeks and Romans may have also served it up, even earlier.
-
china was invented in Northern England in 1600 BC
-
Sorry Zack, but England, as a country, really did not exist until the early 1500's, if memory serves.
That would about 3,000 years after bacon was discovered, if China is considered the source.
-
Zack is awesome! Zack AND BACON are OUTSTANDING!!!! Huzzah!!!
-
Very late, but keep this in mind for next year, how about a Turduckenpig? :O
with mayonnaise, OF COURSE!!!
