I’ve had these DC3/C47 access panels in the rafters of my garage for about five years. I just cleaned, primed and painted them for my daughter to paint WWII nose art on. There is one more that she has already started for a total of nine. I was able to leave one unpainted. The bare metal one had damage that originally came from within the panel. I pounded it inward to make it look more like flack damage. I’m curious to see how it looks when finished.

Here are two full size DC3/C47 cowlings that she painted.

We have art picked out for all but two of them. I’ll post some pics as they are finished.

Great idea, and nice work!
If you haven't chosen a scheme for the unpainted one, a checker boardpattern would look nice.

I did the checkerboard on the sheepdog cowling. It would look nice, But it is a pain to do on a curved surface.

Nice man cave!
Thanks. Here is a pic of the back wall. The access panels that we are using are visible in the rafters on the right side. The ceiling fan is a Hartzell propeller.

Our deal for the panels is, I keep two, and sell the rest for her on eBay.
