In light of the updated Hiryu I have some new information for consideration to make this aircraft more survivable on torpedo runs.

YES! I have asked for higher drop speeds for the Japanese torpedoes for a long time. The CV is late war, make the torpedoes that we launch at it late war too.

+1 :aok

Put it in either the bug fixes or the wishlist....
-
Done before - along with various other torpedo fixes. Maybe I'll look up the post and "revise" it.

CV fire is so brutal and destructive that the only successful attacks I've made on it are head on with torpedos.
-
You can get in close enough to get a successful drop broadside but you won't make it out alive. Head on does work best unless as there are vastly fewer guns popping off at you, and you can even spread the shots a few degrees if he tries to turn.
More +1 on upping the torpedo drop speeds though!
-
Up torp speeds and add proximity detonators! :D

I think It was the US mMk16 air drop torpedo had an 850 foot drop height and a 300 350 mph drop speed. It was carried by the TBM Avengers later in the war.

Only time I've EVER got a torpedo run to work as expected was in the Pearl Harbour arena, with ack-dialed WAY down.... (and the yanks forced to wait for 1st attack) :devil
Torpedoes are useless and a complete waste of time anywhere besides scenarios/events

Get either JU88s or KI67s. Formation. Locate fleet, fly parallel to its course outside of AA range (as low as possible). Get several miles ahead of it, make a big 180 degree turn directly into the path of the carrier. If you are in the JU88s, pop your dive brakes. If you are in the KI67s, just pull the throttles back. You want to be about 10mph below max drop speed. Line up on the bow of the carrier (you can actually get in your bombsight, go into calibration mode, raise up the crosshairs [careful not to move them left or right, just up], and then use rudder to steer your plane). As soon as the first AA tracer goes by you, drop the torpedos. If the 5 inch guns are manned, you will need to drop from further out. They will decimate your formation. Blam! It's off to Davy Jones Locker for the CV.

This should be a wishlist item if we can factually substantiate the claims of a higher torpedo drop, especially the Ki-67.

With everything I have on the KI-67 most of it is in Japanese. The article above is from a magazine from 1983 it took me two years to find a copy of it.
I am assuming the 10 pages that they dedicated to the story on this aircraft, was from well sourced Japanese documents they had translated. Or had interviews with surviving participants from WWII. The one book I have that is in English has nothing this detailed with names and places where and when and technical details like this magazine.
Unless some one can translate the Japanese books I have just to see if there is even any data in them for torpedo speeds, this is about as close as your going to get for substantiation.

Not like that - you just have to cite your sources. No different than whenever I update aircraft and vehicle service dates - list your source(s) and pages etc and the argument for the change.
Most carriers are already vunderable to dive bombing attacks from late war fighters - you値l have to explain why to HTC that high speed torpedo runs are needed and how they値l improve gameplay. If you make a good case, they値l consider it.
And bribes help.
-
Huh. Well, he wants you to cite your sources, so may as well do that. Let him translate from Japanese. :)

OK.
Air International magazine.

The rest is self explanatory at this point as to why faster drop speeds would be better.
No bribes. :D

Done and this one is English. :aok

Alright Lyric - now go make a Wishlist entry... :)
