Thanks to Lyric1 for digging up some reference on this aircraft and pilot.
This P-40F was flown by Lt. Robert J. Palenscar off the carrier USS Chenango as part of Operation Torch. The P-40s would land at a captured airfield at Port Lyautey before continuing sorties against the Vichy French forces around Casablanca. Palenscar"s aircraft was marked with the name "Janie" on the forward fuselage and the initials F.M.K. under the canopy. This aircraft also features the standard yellow ringed U.S. roundel as well as American flags painted on the fuselage and lower wing. It was hoped that the American's would be greeted as liberators in French Morocco, but this was not the case. Palenscar would be declared MIA in March, 1943 after sustaining hits from AAA over Mezzouna, Tunisia.

Beautiful skin Devil, looking forward to some more P-40 skins in the game. Just one thing, are you sure the spinner wasn't red? That was the normal Med theatre ID.

Just beautiful, Devil505. I didn't know the American flag was used on the underside of the wing, learned something new today!

Even in the B/W photos of the P-40's on the Chenango, it is clear that the spinner matched the paint of the darker camouflage.
You can see "Janie" at the bottom of this photo.

Very pretty.

Yes, I agree the spinner is the same colour as the camo. Was just thinking out loud before. Great job again on the skin.
-
Just FYI. Black and white photos can show virtually the same shade of gray when the colors are opposite on the color wheel.
I have attached two images. One is color, the other is the grayscale of the same image.

Here’s a narrative about the launch from the first guy off the boat. What a tale.

Did you make the exhaust pipes look that way or is that a game default?
-
It's the default on the diffuse, but with different specularity settings than the default.

Looks like the headers on my ‘69 Charger. Sweet!
-
yeah, Cactus did a great job on the exhaust. I felt no need to alter them.
-
You going to submit that any time soon? I am asking as I want to get a skins batch out before Christmas.
-
I'll have it submitted tonight.
-
Good deal, then I will hold off releasing the batch today.
