Title: Drones
Post by: JunkyII on December 25, 2017, 12:06:02 PM
I have a Bepop drone for racing around but I'm looking for a good filming drone.

I'm going to be using it in higher altitudes catching footage of my friends and I jumping off 30 foot cliffs on Snowboards.

With that being said I think I need a pretty powerful one to go with the thinner air, one with some good stability because of the mountain effect on wind, and one with some sort of collision avoidance because of the trees.

EDIT: I don't want to spend more then $1,000

Any ideas?

I got my sUAS remote pilot license almost a year ago. I use a DJI Phantom 4 Pro for Real Estate and Forestry. Two primary methods of capture include basic photo/video “inspections” and aerial mapping. I use the ‘Map Pilot’ app on my iphone to upload a flight path, then the quadcopter takes pictures of the ground at even waypoints. Finally I use the “Maps Made Easy” website to stitch the images together to make complete overhead shots for mapping and area calculation.

More particular to your needs, I know the Phantom 4 Pro has collission detection and can hover with GPS guidance. I just have the DJI brand HD camera, clear image but no zoom in/out feature. Total battery life is just shy of 30 minutes. Max ceiling is almost 20,000 feet MSL - legal operations is 400 feet AGL. I’ve enjoyed the DJI product - have had some frustrations with the iPhone/Apps - but the quadcopter is a steady and reliable machine.
