For the last six hours or so I wasn't able to get to the forums. It appeared that there was a major loss between Level3 Sweden and Level3 New York. Who would have guessed! :furious
I wonder what caused so much traffic across the Atlantic that a simple website could not fit in. Out of curiosity I tried to find some other US based server to ping and actually found some with similar results: Too long response time.

Wasn't just between Sweden and New York, couldn't get a connection from Germany either.

Texas here. Guess what? Down, as well.

It has begun...

American football playoffs? Too bad there's no class action lawsuit against Level3 for their well-known overselling and under-providing.

I could net get here either. Drove into the office to see what was up. Everything seemed normal. By the time I got back home, it was working again.
Welcome to the winter wonderland of the Internet. Outages, outages, outages. Re-routing is a way of life for the icy parts of the U.S., this time of year.

Everyone is looking at the weather

Before I went to bed last night, the BBS was not loading. Working fine here now, it's finally above 0 F.

Was out for me as well. (Michigan)
I checked the URL address on IsItDown (http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/) and the results were that it was down for everyone.

Yeah I was trying too from Delaware. Was unable to connect late evening. Must have been something local to the forums as I didn't seem to have any issues with other sites.

The parent company? The IP addresses told Level3. It seems their servers are doing the Transatlantic transfer for my ISP, starting either from Sweden or Ireland and ending to their New York server.
Lusche, I don't know which route Germany takes across the pond. Maps show both direct and indirect routes.

If the BBS server becomes unreachable, then you would not be able to log into the game as that server is on the same network.
I suspect a DoS attack, of some sort, but will do more research when I get back into the office.

Same, BBS wise anyway. Tried a few times early AM, BUT logged in to game as smooth as normal. :headscratch:
