Battle of Midway
(https://media1.britannica.com/eb-media/80/71380-004-B4724C34.jpg)
It's now or never for Yamamoto - his recon and intelligence puts a few USN carriers just outside of Midway but he's unsure of their true size. His plan to to first pound Midway to lure the American carriers within reach of his battlegroup - and in part response to the Doolittle raid just months before. Little did Yamamoto know, the US Intel were secretly copying their location from their now-broken comms messages - and Nimitz needed them to take the bait of Midway to his task forces he had assembled, and a little luck. As Pearl Harbour taught him, the IJN was a serious attack force.
