Title: So, thinking about coming back
Post by: dirtdart on January 14, 2018, 05:54:45 PM
Just bought a laptop...first computer in nearly 6-7 years. Has a 4GB graphics card, wondering if it will run the game. And...wondering if I have the time to get back into this addiction...lol.

Bought it for making 3D autocad for producing rc models.

If zack1234 is still playing, I may wait longer.

kisses zack!

Jump in, the water's fine. AH3 is more GPU dependent than previous versions though a 4 GB card should be sufficient.

Once the game is downloaded, you have the option of running a DirectX 9 or 11 version of the game. The latter is more user friendly for older vid cards.

How exactly do you get the dx11 version? I seem to only have the DX9 version with an older video card. I'd like to get the Dx11 if it will improve my performance.

The game defaults to DX9 because some people have mini stutters with DX11. If you'd like to try it, goto C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High III double click the  AcesHigh11.exe file to start in DX11 (you can right click and create a desktop icon for it to save you the trouble later)

I tried it and I feel like it ran worse with DX11. Quite a few stutters/pauses.

I run AH around 160 fps while streaming on my 3GB 1060 nvidia card. Only after playing a full day it will reach the 800mb mark

It is more interesting to know which exact graphic card you have and the rest of your system. Playing offline is free and you can get a feeling of how the game runs first, before paying.

Oh and welcome back!  :salute

NVDIA GTX 1050. I tried running the offline practice, best I could do was 40 or so FPS with most everything turned off. I will need some help to get this thing to 60.

I57300 2.5ghz
12GB system memory

Less then my last gaming computer by far. Did not know the newer version was so demanding.

That doesn't sound right, I got an ancient I3-2120 and a GTX 950 and get stable 60 in game with shadows and some post processing turned off.  :headscratch:

Dunno zack, as a gentleman I reckoned that other gentlemen might want me flying around.

I am sad you never shot me your mobile number when I was in england for three months. I did eat a pasty in cornwall...but missed out on northern pies.

I was even in Bruvs town for a bit. Just did not know.

DX11 is best for people who use VR gear DX9 is better for people who don't use VR.

put X's in all the box's--top 2 sliders all the way to the right--second two sliders 1/2in from left--environment to 0.

40 fps is pretty good some people don't even get that

I will have to talk to skuzzy I am afraid. AH only sees the integrated graphics, not the stand alone.

In the off chance, have you disabled the onboard chip?

It’s worth looking at.

Looking at joysticks. Is the x56 an improved x52? Or, is the x52 still the best stick in the mid range?

Or, is the x52 still the best stick in the mid range?

I think the Thrustmaster T16000M FCS has that position now.

Call HTC and check. Your name might just still be on the books but not used. If so they will clear it for you.

I've had to call and have my handle released, because it was tied to my old account.

It will be great.  You can shoot at Zack.

Hitecb did that for me after 10 years.
