Title: Enterprise or Millenium Falcon
Post by: AKKuya on January 17, 2018, 08:11:50 PM
This is a better question to ask if it was possible.

Would you rather pilot the Millennium Falcon or sit center seat and command the Enterprise?

Depends..

For a fishing trip to the far planet in Betelgeuse?  The Falcon.

For A road trip to the ring nebula?  The Enterprise.

Get a big garage.. have one of each.

I’m going with the Enterprise.    Speed is everything.  Besides, it has more hot women and more private rooms.   Important.

Did the enterprise make the kessel run in under 12 parsecs? No it did not!

Lucas apparently didn't know that a 'parsec' is a unit of distance: 3.08567758149137×1016 meters or 19.173511577 trillion miles or 3.261563777 light-years (based on the IAU 2012 exact SI definition of the astronomical unit). Basically, someone is bragging about a 'shortcut.'

Yes, exactly.  The shortcut took him closer to the dangerous part of kessel sector than anyone else was willing to go.  Age old argument lol  Shorter distance, far more deadly to attempt.  For a smuggler, Fuel Rules.  It's like the difference between saying I got from San Francisco to Sacramento in 70 minutes instead of the normal 90 minutes, or I got from San Francisco to Sacramento in under 65 miles instead of the 87 it actually is on the plotted routes.  Faster speed means more fuel, reduce the distance, you are there faster, and cheaper.

Falcon for the win.  Can't take the pretty Enterprise "offroad"

At least the Enterprise design has elements based off of working theories.  The Falcon,...not so much.

Actually, the Kessel run takes you close to an area of the galaxy known as the Maw, which is a blackhole cluster and is known to rip ships from hyperspace and trap them in the immense gravity eddies in the area.  By taking it in under 12 parsecs, he's claiming he was able to get closer to the Maw than most vessels would ever dare.  This route, albeit a little further out, was favored by smugglers because the large imperial cruisers were unable to function that close to the Maw.

Loses power when absolutely needed, in the shop after each trip to the store, constantly under the torch being welded on, squeaks, rattles and shakes.  Working theories? Sounds like a fully functional brand new Chevy Pickup to me!

The whole concept of doing the Kessel Run in 2 parsecs is tongue in cheek.  As he's saying "Hey - I can do the Iron Butt motorcycle ride in 11'000 miles".  Yeah, no kidding, the Kessel Run IS 2 parsecs in distance.

I dunno.  Seems to be pretty much the same ole, same ole.  And the Falcon lacks Scotty the miracle worker.

The Falcon is like your first beater car.  Barely held together with wire and duct tape.  The Enterprise is like your first new car.  Shiny, comfortable, and does most things automatically for you but when something goes wrong it's a horror show to fix.

I'll take the Enterprise every time as long as it comes with Scotty and/or Geordi and a vast supply of willing alien chicks.

Wiley.

There is something to be said for being able to get up and walk down the corridor to the bathroom when the urge strikes.

When you watch Expendables 3. The scene where Harrison Ford is flying the helicopter like a crazy man.  One of the other actors ask him," Where did you fly like that?"  You can see Harrison Ford mutter in a low voice "Kessel Run".

Three for one!  The Enterprise.  You can always disengage the command saucer for those little side trips if it's too far for a shuttle...   Plus there's more than one shuttle if you want someone to play with.

I forgot to mention you could also just recreate the Millennium Falcon on the holodeck.

Never give Chakotay a shuttle.

Chakotay's shuttle destroyed by Kazon.

Chakotay and Janeway crash a shuttle on an unnamed planet.

Chacotay and Kaplan crash a shuttle on planet of the New Collective.

Chacotay's shuttle crashes in the warzone.
