Title: Odd help needed
Post by: mthrockmor on January 23, 2018, 11:34:37 PM
I'm helping open a military school. I NEED to find a tank I can use as a display. I know one can be obtained on loan from the US Army, though no one ivee spoken to knows who to ask. Anyone here know?

Thanks in advance.

Best bet would be to find either a local unit or local civil affairs that might be willing to help. We're always taking our route clearance vehicles out for some displays or some silly stuff.

Check with the local VFW or American Legion hall if they have a display tank. They can tell you where to go to ask about it.

Why don't you talk to a recruiter in your local area?

Having a military school in the area with free advertising for them is quite the motivation for them to become helpful and gracious.

Local Guard Armory might be a place to start.  In my home town they had a couple howitzers and a tank on display at the armory and up at the Civil Air Patrol location.

Any military museums near by?  They might put you on to a lead.

The Aces High BB - the only place where a guy can say "I need a tank" and people will tell him where to look. :D

Check with the local VFW or American Legion hall if they have a display tank. They can tell you where to go to ask about it.

Also AmVet's (similar to VFW and American Legion)

and possibly your local Veterans Affairs and/or your local US Veterans Representative Organization

Have you tried Googling?

Sounds like a Wonderful thing you're wanting to do, you might also could try contacting other longtime reputable Military Schools... Similar to "Oak Ridge Academy" here in North Carolina

Good Luck and hope this is helpful
