While the little lovey dovey scene at 30s doesn't exactly fill me with confidence, at least it wasn't on the level of Pearl Harbor. It has my interest. :)

If you think this story has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

That's...an odd thing to say. Who here is expecting this "happy ending" you speak of? :headscratch:

It's a quote from Iwan Rheon's character in GOT aka Ramsay Bolton. He just so seems to be the star of "Hurricane".
-
from local news ( it's pretty hyped here for obvious reasons ) - there is only single female role in the movie and there is about 20 minutes of flying scenes ( which is a lot actually ).
Let's hope they don't screw this up.
-
Hopefully it's just as good as Dark Blue World. Seems like it will be very similar but instead of Czechs it's Poles.

My maternal grandfather was an enlisted radio/wireless/electrical technician and arrived in the UK in June of 1940 with the RCAF squadron. He had some pictures of 303 squadron. 1 RCAF and 303 were assigned together to work in the same wing while he was posted there, and their bases were close together, about an hour transport each way he said, and he was among the RCAF ground personnel that worked on the Polish squadron aircraft and systems when required. (Croydon and Northolt).
They had some successful days winging together, 1 RCAF and 303 destroyed 2 JU88, 4 ME110, and a 109 on Sept 27 1940, fighting vs 70 German aircraft total, with one RCAF Hurricane loss, the pilot KIA.
I'm glad to see more films such as this being made.

One of the stars was also in "dark blue world". Hmmm

Sure looks it. Drama queens and CGI. :bhead

CGI planes can be just fine. Tough to read the tone from that trailer though. I'm mildly hopeful.
Wiley.

Sadly, when I saw some of the action, I immediately thought of Pearl Harbor's BoB scene. Not AS bad, but it still came to mind.

I see that now. Good eyes.

was hopeful till i saw how bad the CG animation was for that hurri getting shot down. Looked like a stationary model on strings getting shaken. bleh

I wonder if the film will show at the end how the Brits through the Poles under the bus after the war.
-
If I hear "hammer down" once, I'm turning it off.

Did someone say happy ending............... :bolt:

Naaa. It's going to be the Pole version of it, if not UK. :P

I saw enough to see they blew it with the CGI. Unrealistic movements and flight paths. Disappointing.

it's a UK version. I saw an interview with a guy they hired to make sure it's historical. he said it was americanized initially - for example - "ok" wasn't used in UK in conversations until 60s apparently.
As for explosion, it looks weird. Then again, i haven't seen 20mm exploding on a plane. If I remember correctly 109E shell was a MG FF/M shell that carried 3x explosives of normal 20mm.
I doubt that i can ever watch a wwii movie without getting into some detail of it. Can you imagine this:
- 109 tracers were too often - usual load out was xxxx
- spitfire turned too tightly, you can see it dive earlier it would have to overshoot and it didn't....
- p38 dived steeply but you can tell from markings that it is an early model and he wouldn't pull out of the dive !!!
:)

How so? Our country has welcomed lots Poles to work and live in the UK.
The only way to have kept the Russkies out of Poland after the war was for the US to have nuked them, so yes blame the UK for de-escalating WW3! :aok
As for the film it looks watchable, the blonde is hot! and Polish squadrons deserve our respect for getting stuck in.

The Polish lost the highest percentage of their population of any country during World War II. Estimates are about 16-20% of total population. It's quite easy to see why:
-Both Germany and the USSR invade Poland at the same time during their non-aggression pact. USSR executes thousands of Polish officers.
-Germany fights the USSR, takes over entirety of Poland, and begins sending all Jewish Poles to extermination camps. Anyone thought to be a Partisan (a very very loose term) is executed.
-USSR begins winning war, and is camped outside of Warsaw. However, Stalin lets the Germans kill the majority of people in Warsaw first. The Germans actually execute the leader of the SS division who liquidated Warsaw for excess brutality (I can't make this stuff up).
-USSR invades entirety of Poland. Anyone thought to be a Partisan is executed. Any able-bodied male is forced into the Red Army.
-Red Army invades Germany and Berlin and comes up against the fiercest German defenses of the war. There is not much record of what happened to the Poles conscripted into the Red Army (with little or no training), but they were most likely used as expendable infantry.
-Post-war Poland is a Soviet satellite state.
-

And you sent the Cossacks back to Stalin.
And when did WWII start? Not 1941
-
And you sent the Cossacks back to Stalin.
AKAK did?

To be honest, neither the Brits or the Americans had much leverage concerning Poland short of operation Unthinkable which would have been a disaster . I find that to be one of the biggest ironies of the war, Britain and France declared war on Germany to prevent Polands subjugation, but the end result was Soviet subjugation. As for the Don Cosaks and other people's who retreated with the Germans, coughing them back up to the Soviets was a travesty. My step Dad who owned a restaurant back in the 1990's hired a waitress who was from Ukraine. She was liberated by the Americans and married a GI, probably the only thing that saved her from Gulag. Both Soviet POWs and civilians who survived the end of the war had a extremely high mortality rate after being repatriated back to the USSR.

These are the comments that keep the "hate" rolling on in this world. What happened THEN is just that, THEN! Let it go! The same goes for the "slaves" in US history, That was then, make NOW better and let the past go.

Agreed.
And yet, you only need to look to the Middle East, or the Balkans, to see people killing each other for things that happened hundreds, or even thousands, of years ago.
Jim Morrison had it right. People are strange.

The key thing about it though is, don't FORGET.
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

What about the Roman emperor Claudius invading Britain in 30AD
We demand reparations
