Title: 64 GIAP Yak-3
Post by: Greebo on February 18, 2018, 02:58:24 AM
Thanks to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin.

This Yak-3 was flown by Captain Semion Rogovoy, CO of the 1st Squadron of the 64th Guards Fighter Regiment which was stationed on the Baltic front in Autumn 1944. Rogovoy is credited with 5 kills, all of which were FW 190s. His plane's art had a nautical theme with a seagull, life ring and two anchors.

It's a beauty, Greebo!

What Spec/Power/Env values are you using for the paint?  I think you've got just the right amount of specularity and hardness for the paint?  The sun glare looks just right to my eye.

Well done, sir!

The average grey values for the painted areas are:

Specular: 63
Power: 22
Environment: 30

The weathering layers vary these values by about 2 or 3 up or down.

Thanks Greebo, - I'll have to compare those to the 16 GIAP P-39Q I did recently - I didn't change much from the default spec file for the '39Q, but the paint finish seems too flat to me now, even for olive/green drab.   Giving a little luster makes the texture underneath appear "harder" to me somehow, which looks appropriate for metal...
