Thanks to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin.
This F4F-4 Wildcat was flown by Lieutenant William N. Leonard of VF-3 during the Battle of Midway. Leonard fought at the battles of the Coral Sea, Midway and during the Solomons campaign becoming an ace in the process. By the end of the war he had been awarded two Navy Crosses, four Legions of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star and six Air Medals. Staying in the Navy he rose to the rank of Rear Admiral before retiring in 1971.

:aok The grime is sublime.

Less than 24 hours from inception to conception must be close to a record.
Nice. :aok
Only critique I have based off of the top of the number 13 in the still image I don't think this number is portioned up.
Also the decals from the model in my prior post in the other thread seems to support this.

It is pretty much the same as the default skin really, just had to make some new numbers and adjust the weathering. Good spot on the lack of stencil gaps, I'll fill those in before submitting the skin.

The Wildcats discovered on the Lexington today bear the same Felix Logo, but the squadron numbers on the fuselage are different with the letter F-#.
I know they are different aircraft (Or are they?) but thought it was interesting and thought of this.
As soon as I find a link to those pics I will post. Saw them on Facebook.

They'd have to be specifically different since they were lost before both Midway and the national insignia change.

Yeah, that's right. From what I've been reading in the last hour or so is that VF-2 took VF-3's Wildcats shortly before the Coral Sea battle. None of the squadron logos were removed.
