Basically it is, but there's some minor changes to armament, the engine, and the lack of wing hardpoints. It won't fill the void of the TBD, but it brings us closer from having to use a mid-1944 aircraft in early setups.

silly question, how come the rear guy (gunner/navigator?) is forward in one aircraft and then towards the rear on another?
I can't believe that he has a nice recliner back there...

TBD had three crew members. The crewman in the middle was the Torpedo Officer (bombardier )/Navigator, the crewman in the rear was the rear gunner/radio operator. The rear gunner was able to swivel his seat to sit forward if needed (probably to use the radio) and to the rear to man the defensive guns.

Ok that makes sense... the top image I can see three heads, but in the bottom pic I can only see two in each aircraft...
