Title: P-39Q 30th GIAP
Post by: oboe on March 07, 2018, 04:12:46 PM
This P-39Q-5 Airacobra, serial number 42-20414, was the personal aircraft of Senior Lieutenant Aleksandr Filatov.   Flying with 30 GIAP from March 1943 to April 1945, Filatov's first victory was over an Fw-190 on 9 May 1943.  Shot down by AA fire on 20 April 1945, he crash landed and was taken prisoner.  By the time he was downed, he had completed 193 missions and scored 23 air victories.

Thanks to lyric1 for all the additional info he found on this aircraft.

Very sharp.  What is the significance of those cards?

I guess Filatov had an interest in literature, and I think the cards are from the story "The Queen of Spades" by Alexander Pushkin.
