It's great and all, just can't get over the fact it's an F4H-1. It probably belongs in a museum considering it's test history.
Would rather have an F-4B or F-4J. I'd paint it in VF-84 or VF-33 colors circa early 70s. :D

Humm, maybe do Gofundyan thing, buy it for Puma44 to put in his front yard :lol PO his neighbors. He could fire it up on Sunday AM

Our yard isn’t big enough. But, the driveway might work. Hmmmmmmm :joystick:

The bigger issue with it being a pre production one off is it's a pre production one off...parts aren't exactly going to work when u need a spare.

Hmmm
You know, if we move Puma's RV into the back shed (we'll have to move the flight bar into the basement), and if we build a 6'x2' slit into the top centre of the driveway garage, it might fit if we slit it in nose first , clear the tail then into the left corner.
But I don't think your wife would appreciate having the bar in her sowing room... maybe she could move it to her sisters? :headscratch:

See OM/Puma - the rudder will clear the beams in the garage and we can fold in the wingtips. I've got some avgas credits at Suncor and Shell we can use. Imagine the fun we can have for 3 hours worth of Phantom fuel?
:x

Puma may remember the details, but I suspect that if our squad pooled its lives, fortunes and sacred honor to putting JP4 in that plane, we'd run empty and stallspincrashburn about 300 feet off the end of the runway.
Maybe not even burn.
Still, it's a pleasant thought.

You'd definitely need to find a 600 gallon centerline tank. Phantoms don't go far without that or a tanker. :)

True. 30-40 minutes flight time on internal fuel for a sortie in the phone booth.

Details, details......the Gunfighters can make it happen. Theses guys have so many great ideas! By the way, Gents, my wife doesn’t sew, so we can use that room to store spare externals.

I'm sorry.. am I the only one that simply cannot get excited about the Phantom?
It was big, and a missle platform.
Not a gunfighter.
And it made a lot of smoke...

Yes, you are the only one. :rofl
Not a gunfighter? Have you flown one?
Smokers until smokeless engines where installed. Then, there was virtually no smoke. But, the previous smokers were good at blowing smoke and cinders in the face of an opponent. 😉

lol.. of course not.. :)
No, I am a Crusader fan.. and the next generation, Crusader III, competed against the F4 and lost.
When I was in college in the '80s , F4s would land at Charleston AFB on occasion. Our school was along one of the approaches, so I got to see a few come in.. slow, loud, and smokin'
When I saw this meme, that immediately came back from memory.

Blasphemous.
And... It's ok like to the Crusader and the Phantom. :airplane:

During my time flying it, the hourly was $3,000/hour.
