Title: Panel Instruments
Post by: ONTOS on March 28, 2018, 12:07:50 PM
If TAS is not going to be added, How about making the panel instruments brighter. It's hard to tell what they are reading most of the time. Please.

You might want to try adjusting your video and monitor settings.  Instruments look just fine on my rig.

Shilo is right.   It has to do with Post Lighting.  This has been a long-term complaint.   AH2 was fine in this regard.

Ah.  I have post lighting turned off -- it makes the instruments too dark.   :D

Some players with less robust PC's have to keep post lighting off to have playable FPS. In some cases you can leave it on but uncheck all but anti aliasing or even uncheck that. Disabling reflections and shadows had a very positive effect of my instruments along with other things. But, with all the post lighting effects unchecked and post lighting still on, you get a better resolution of the instruments than totally disabling it. Also your video used memory can be another issue with a less robust video card running up against the max used with post lighting on. It's all about testing combinations to find some combination that gives you the best outcome for the hardware you have. In many cases a bit of time offline pushing buttons and watching the effects on your view-ability of the instruments and video memory use is all that is needed.

Also testing outcomes with 1024, 2048 and 4096 texture modes is another thing depending on your video card and PC along with different FOV. Over the two years of the alpha\beta testing program I ended up testing the game graphics against three different video cards and had to go through a lot of this to get playable outcomes with the weaker of the two.

Yep.  That’s the issue.

Last time I tried it, disabling Post Lighting wipes out anti-aliasing.   They’re linked.   So the instruments look better but everything else looks worse.

A more obvious tick mark on the instrument needles would help.

If we can have HUD, then should be able to illuminate the panel...

Also raise your gamma.

Because that way we can see the instruments and then have everything else washed out...

That’s a workaround, at best, my friend.   This needs an actual fix.   AH2’s panel was clear as day.

Yep, enabling post-processing in AH3 causes the instruments to be too dark to read, especially the dial indicators.

You gents are trying to gin up another MOB to once again tilt at the Hitech wind mill and bar the gate to anyone not following the program to your lock step. Games have always been about work arounds becasue no two PC's are the same nor players ability to tweak their own system. Over two years I got three different results testing with three different video cards. That was the point of the alpha\beta testing and the compromise of the average default settings when you install the game. Must be Wednesday and nothing going on in the MA.

Why do you always go this route when people bring up an issue?    Is Hitech above constructive criticism?   Is that your position?   Sure seems like it.

Lockstep?  What does that have to do with anything?   I guess next time there’s a bug that the majority of players have we should shut up so we don’t get accused of being a cabal.   That’s your implication any way.

It’s simple really...

THE INSTRUMENTATION IS HARD TO READ.    When you adjust things so they can be read other aspects of the game’s visuals go to pot.   You don’t have to like this fact but it remains so and many people have mentioned it since AH3 came out.   AH2 never had this problem.

If Hitech chooses not to address it that’s his prerogative.   It’s his sandbox.   But the idea that we are the problem for mentioning the reality of what’s happening is unfair.
