Im still in the process of getting controls to work with a mouse in a GV, they are fubar.
If I mess with the sensitivity in tanks and planes, its mode 2 i believe, it somehow changes my settings to mode 1?
IE, I need to turn my sensitivity almost all the way up in GV mode, just to be able to move the turret in from the scope. If I go to hop in a plane, the sensitivity is is so high you will wont be able to control it. Keep in mind, when these high sensitivity settings are applied to even be able to move the turret in scope mode, the command mode or whatever you'd like to call it is totally spazztic.
After that fact, if I decide to hop in a buff and use gunners, they are jump around so spazztically its not possible to aim. You will see in my previous post, there was absolutely 0 issue with these items before a certain patch, the one where mouse movement needs to be continued to continue to move the turret. Before that a slight roll of the mouse left would continue to move until i moved it an equal distance to the right to center it.
Really about to just give up on this. My last post got absolutely no reply. Its getting to the point where its just not worth it to me to figure out, as I am 98% positive it cant be fixed by any manipulation of the settings on my end at all, unless something went fubar in a patch and a fresh install is needed. I doubt that.
If you would like to log in through my system somehow and try playing the game with my settings, let me know.
If you don't care, let me know, and Ill move on. But if this is something every new player using a mouse experiences, you have some real issues.

Here is a film i made sometime awhile ago, if it helps.
I assume its the right one based on the name.
-
Same here loaded patch now gv settings are shot can't get any to work correctly.
-
Let me clarify, this is pertaining to using a mouse in all aspects of the game, AND it has been going on for months now. My previous post on this would give a good time stamp.
There are apparently a pile of problems being experienced in this latest patch, which have no affected my settings at all. I have yet to try a bomber in this new patch, but I heard those were wonky beyond the ways mentioned above.
More to come on that, maybe this weekend.
-
I really think changing sensitivity in one mode switches them all, I may be wrong.
More testing to come.
-
Damping / dead band and the like are currently set up across all modes per axis.
-
So why does my tank turret view move at different speeds in commander and scope mode? I dont mean the physical turret, jist the view associated with both modes.
I think your last patch actually fixed my ability to gun in bombers BTW.
-
will have HT look at turret control in mouse
-
Thanks!
-
Hey - I'm having trouble duplicating the speed issue your having - can you explain it a little more?
-
are you talking about how you move the commanders circle left or right, and then the gun follows behind until it catches up?
-
Waffle, there is a film attached to my 2nd post in here
-
Basically my turret wont move when in scope mode was the range finder. The only way i can get it to is by maxxing sensitivity.. then it throws everything else out of whack.

Does it kinda feel like it's movement is locked a bit and only unlocks with large left/right movements?

Exactly.. i think its tied into how the mouse moves a turret as of a few patches back. Instead of moving the mouse left to move the turret, and then move right to stop the motion, now you have to continusly move the mouse to move the turret left. For large movements its going to require picking the mouse up, moving it over on the mousepad to contnue to movement. The same applies to how field guns and buff guns changed in that patched.
The way you described it is perfect. It doesnt lock up until you enter the range finding scope to shoot a target.
Like i mentioned, if i turn the sensitivity to max under the control mode, i can get it to move a little more, even then very unpredictable and jumpy,. But then everything from buff guns to the driving mode in the tank is cometely spazztic. Seeing as how the sensitivity is applied across all control modes, it really messes with everything, including my flight settings, which need to pretty dialed in to fly with a mouse.
-
Just checking back.. is there something wrong with my settings or is this bug related?
-
Try - Options > Preference >View Options > then adjust that mouse sensitivity. See if that helps.
-
Have messed with that in the past with no luck. The only setting change ive had luck with getting it to move down scope is with the x and y axis under controls sensitivity, and even then it isnt any good at all because the driving mode is jerky and uncontrollable, Not to mention airplane controls, bomber gunners, etc.
-
Im also confused as to why the down scope mode feels locked, and if I hop into a pintle gun it moves just fine?
-
I renamed my settings folder, and re-started the game, I didn't have the "locked" feeling. Granted, as a personal opinion, it did take more input to move the turret from the scope view, but I believe Dale change the sensitivity back in 3.2.patch 11.
-
So i rename that folder, and all my settings for everythin else are gone?

Rename it, say "xsettings" and see if it fixes the lock in a tank sight. If it does, then its something in your mapping. If no discernable difference, delete the new "settings" folder, and then rename "xsettings" back to "settings" and all your original settings will be restored. Then you can try to find out what's causing the locking sensation in tanksight.

I just tested it and it has done what it has always done. I use my mouse for guns and GV's to control the guns. In the 17lb the gun moves faster unzoomed but, zoomed it moves slowly for fine control over aiming adjustments. In tanks I find the same principle is in play as the difference between commander mode\MG mode and main gun optics mode. I think Hitech scaled the movement precision of the FoV to each position. If you are in a wirble and can swing it's gun at speed even in zoom with your mouse, this is a Hitech setting on purpose you have problems with.
-
My problem is i cannot turn the turret at all inside of the scope, and im guessing thats not how its intended to work.. lol
Ill try the settings folder trick next time i get some time to play.

Just to point out, I've been using a mouse on this game for all 17 years on this game, not including 5 years in Air Warrior. :old:
I hope this helps:
Lazer, I had a similar problem like you did in regards of the GV just a few months ago but not from a patch issue. I had to update my mouse software and the problem got rectified. I have a Logitech G502 optic mouse which I can modify sensitivity offline too.
In regards to the latest patch, overall it messed a few things up and made some worse.
That text clutter that was telling me that I was in Mode1, Mode 2, when I was flight, well I turn that off thru Options -> Controls -> Map Controller -> Uncheck "Auto Select Mode"
That Auto mode select was causing a lot of problems such as when I was in a gunner, or in the scope position in a bomber, It wouldnt allow me to adust the speed of my bomber to accurately drop my eggs.
The Battleship guns and Cruiser guns from a CV are jacked up, still as of 4-17-2018.
Anyhow, In the past year I have been getting into GV'ing and I currently I have no problems in turret rotation on any mode.

I've gone from a USB thumb marble mouse back to an old school USB optical mouse. Both with the default drivers from Win7. Nothing exotic and I've never run into your problem. Do you have a second known working mouse to test with to remove your OS or hardware. Mice do get old and start malfunctioning. Players have ever blamed the developer instead.

So here is my issue now, if I go into view settings, i can get the scope to move around enough that its usable.
When i go into the driving mode, out of scope, it is so sensitive it almost makes you sick to use.
Any ideas?

I'm going to have to escalate this to Hitech, and do some deep bug searching, if there is one. Right now, I'm befuddled.

I feel like if I turn my sensitivity way down in the control setting portion of things, it feels normal in the driving mode, but then my settings are screwed for flying a plane with a mouse.

I appreciate you guys' replies in here to help me figure this out, I'm doing the best I can to describe it.
The fact ive managed to kill a few guys now from a scope is an accomplishment, but driving and scanning the terrain out of scope make me want to vomit. :aok
-
I have been having these exact same issues. You have described them well. I have also tried everything I know to get it back to what it used to be and am having no success. I use a Razor gaming mouse that is up to date with software. Very frustrated...ready to move on too.

I believe i attached videos showing the problem too.
If you go to view settings under options, and crank the sesitivity all the way up, you can get the turret to move. Unfortunately after that everything is fubar. I think its tied to how the mouse moves now. Its really not ideal to have to slap your mouse all over the mousepad if making a large turret movement, but hell, not even that is working right.. lol
-
Ive also noticed when you get into the down scope mode, and if by some miracle you get it to move, it makes no sound.
Keep in mind getting the turret to move in scope mode is a huge accomplishment, and actually getting your sight on a target and destroying anything other than a building from 10 feet away, amazing.

I can't use the gunner position in bombers, Osty's, Wirbs, ship guns, or tanks. I really am considering moving on. The only fun at this point is fighters.

Have you tried finding that view setting i mentioned under options? I got those gunner positions you mentioned to be useable, but extremely difficult to hit anything in due to the jerkyness of their control.
-
Yes I have. My controls do work, but very unhappy with the stability. Can't get a lead on anything. Very not fun when a g14 gets on my tail in bombers. I could not hit it even at 400 out. Very jerky movement. I liked it when the sites would traverse with left or right movement of the mouse.

I had to change my mouse this weekend from a USB mouse to a wireless Microsoft 2000 mouse and all of my gun positions move smoothly just like they did with the USB mouse. Pulled out the USB mouse, hooked up the receiver and windows was happy, I'm on win7 64bit. The game didn't care that I changed mice. I did the whole alpha\beta with a marble mouse and had no problems then changed to a USB optical and no problems. Each time was a pull out the old, drop in the new and the game was happy. What are you gents doing that is causing problems like you describe?
-
Chui you got a mouse sensitivy button on the side of ur mouse?
I do.. maybe there is an issue there??
Ive messed with it in combination with game settings and cant get anything smooth. Maybe the code doesnt like it?
-
I changed my mouse out and still have the same trouble. I am using win7 pro/64bit. I do have a mouse sensitivity button and have used it in the highest setting for turret gunning, just to keep from having to slide and slide and slide to move the gun site. Prior to an update back in November I think, the mouse acted as a joystick and would continuously traverse in the direction (left or right) that you moved it, and would stop with a minor movement in the opposite direction. No longer the case of course. I have monkeyed with deadband and all those settings, changed from auto select mode and what not. To no avail. I have updated the mouse software (it is a high quality gaming mouse). I really don't think it's the mouse at all. I have renamed the settings folder twice now, thinking that I did something wrong the first time. No help. Your film shows exactly the problem we are having too. I hope someone can help us, because I do like the friends I have come to know in this game and the camaraderie. Good Luck Lazerr, I don't think I can take much more of this.

I've been using dumb quality mice for years and get the results you want. Do you have and old dumb mouse you can test with?

I can look around when i get time, probably not until late in the weekend.
