I had this issue with my desktop and we managed to fix it. Now, on my brand new Predator Helios 3000 Gaming Laptop I’m seeing the same thing.
When you launch the skin viewer it displays as all black--just a giant black square. Moving the object will show the blue sky color. Move it back and it is the all-black square again. :headscratch:
This is a brand new machine. The only software I've installed is AH3. For some reason the Skin Viewer does not seem to like NVidea.

Vid card is NVidea GeForce 1060 / Intel Graphics 630 Running DirectX 12. Game runs fine.
On my main computer updating the Video Drivers solved the problem one time. The next it was Direct X. I've tried both here and the error remains.

Try renaming settings folder for testing.
I can not duplicate it.

Never mind just duplicated it when I tried to move it.

After you see the black try right click on screen and move your mouse to refresh.

When I right click with the mouse and move it....the all-black goes to the all-blue.
Is there a setting in the NVidea control panel I need to change? VSynch or something like that?
I appreciate you looking into this one. I hope we can figure it out or I'm gonna' send this laptop back! :rofl

The only things I can get to work even partially are shrubs and the like. But it appears only a shadow of it displays.

Back to the drawing board. I sent that laptop back. It has to be something with the 1060 video card since it affected two totally different machines with variations of that hardware. :salute

I realize it's too late, but I wonder if it was a problem with disabling the Intel graphics option. I remember that solved someone's problem a couple of weeks ago.

I actually tried that and it just made everything pixelated, but the skin viewer still didn't work.
Very disappointing.
I just hope I never have a problem with my home rig. That was a nightmare to sort out. I don't think I'll ever buy an Nvidea again.
