Title: is it cheating?
Post by: guncrasher on May 12, 2018, 02:42:32 PM
removed the tracers a few days ago.  first time I flew without them I got 7 kills.  I am pretty good at getting behind a con and staying there.  but I noticed without tracers they have a tendency to fly straight or do slow turns thinking I am not firing.  with tracers they flip flop all over and I had a had time getting a kill.  anyway it's easier to get kills now.

what do you guys think?

Give it time...you will come across a "Flopper" even without tracers :rofl I have some great film of it, COMPLETELY out of guns, stay on them and let them flop all the way into the ground...sooner or later :uhoh Some flop better than others, and can manage to prolong the life even through the seizure like floping :devil It is HARD to fly and laugh at same time :old:

Not using tracers to avoid alerting the enemy to misses is a historically accurate tactic.

I have only very rarely used tracers. I'd guess about 5% of the time I have flown or less have I had tracers on.

I use tracers to make people turn. I really don't think it's a advatage. Maybe if your surprising someone that's afk.

People that cry about others not having tracers turned on are just trying to explain their suckage away.

It's not cheating, since it's a feature that is available to everyone.  :old:

I want them to know I'm shooting at them.

I also did better when I turned the tracers off. For me, it forced instinct shooting rather than looking at the tracers. With them off, I was using the reticle rings and canopy frames to lineup shots. I was less likely to do that when I had them on. For me it was automatic, pretty neat.

I recommend trying it to everyone. Give it a few hours to get used to it.

After a few months I turned them back on because I missed the pretty lights, but benefitted from things I learned with them off.

I usually keep them off since I can’t hit anything with them on anyway.

I always thought the server side CM file suppressed any admin dot text commands unless your logon credentials were "Hitech". Or Hitech has a special version of the game and ours don't have those controls in the code. Who would be silly enough t leave something like that laying around to be found......

You mean you guys get to actually pull the trigger at the plane you're fighting?? What's that feel like? I'm still waiting for my chance....

:aok :rofl Yup! Almost like with a pilot wound. YOU will blackout on final approach! I tend to laugh at this. I am a relative noob but I still know better than to flop around. They slow down and make it impossible to NOT get saddled up. Love those guys  :devil Thing is...even folk that I believe dont need to do this, just end up getting killed because of it. Most times its against planes that could easily stay out of my reach. Just plain ole funny
