You cannot replace Windows yet, but probably before Windows 7 becomes totally usless you will be able to replace it with ReactOS.

I have been following it for some time now. Still not ready for prime time, but getting better.
It is a massive undertaking for an open source project.

You had better have young eyes. That thing has been in 'development' for 20 years now.

Interesting.
Another one that interests me, but I haven't tried it out, is Wine with Linux.
Reason is that I can put together a decent AH computer for $300 plus $150 for graphics card -- and then Windows 10 costs another $100.

Does it integrate with Active Directory?

Been watching it for decade or so now, certainly taking its time.
Freedos was conversely done very well and very quick.

Geez, I hope not. :)

What do you run your office network on openldap or something equally limp :)

Our environment is best suited to keeping every machine as far from each other as possible. It prevents a lot of potential errors from happening.
There is only one thing shared on our network and it has its own system of managing the data.
I would go a completely different route if I had larger scale systems deployment. That means, no Windows OS.
I always thought Active Directory was more for the lazy IT guy who really did not want to work for a living. The deployments of it I have witnessed are atrocious. I understand there are those who think that is the only way to do things. Then again, some people are limited in their creative abilities as well.

I have AD deployed at home. I use it to control the kids PCs, what access to resources they have on the network, as well as when and what they get to on the internet, while any internet reporting includes usernames. I use MS NPS (RADIUS) for my wifi for auth as well.
My youngest could login on his home PC with his username and password when he was 3 :)

My home is a different story. It is almost Windows free (only one system left) so it is a very different setup/configuration, although I do run a variety of servers, RADIUS included. No kids anymore. Just me and the Wife.

I forgot a AD CA as well, useful for traffic decryption :devil

Wine is a bit hits and misses with DirectX for games. Some works good, others dont work at all, or with serious glitches.
