Title: Fresh Install Deadbands
Post by: A8cole on June 01, 2018, 07:16:49 PM
Is there a way to recover the deadband settings from a previous install? I saved off the old files and have replaced the settings folder, but deadbands didn't come over. Had to do a fresh install because of a corrupt OS. :furious Basically, what all folders do I need to bring over from the old install?

Im pretty sure it is the .jsm file in the settings folder.

It will have you joystick name .jsm. If you have a CH fighter stick it may say "chfighterstick.jsm"

I brought over the entire Settings folder so I figured that would be enough. Did not seem to bring over those settings though.  :salute

Those are in the settings folder with the rest of the joystick settings, but if your stick got a new USB ID, then they may not match what was previously stored and would require resetting again.

Cole, do you still have a copy of the old settings folder? If you do, you can open the .jsm file and copy and paste the old numbers in and it should give you the old settings. This is what your looking for....

Copy it from the OLD jsm file, and paste it into the new jsm file and save it using notepad. If you didnt save a copy of the old settings file your stuck adjusting things until you get it as you had it.

For pitch and roll you only need enough deadband to keep the autopilot on. Start with 0 deadband to test. If you have a twisty stick you'll want enough deadband on the rudder axis to avoid unintentional input.

Thank you Fugitive, will give that a try. Yeah, FLS I got the deadbands adjust to keep autopilot on. That is what made me realize the stick settings did not come over correctly, couldn't stay in autopilot. Really appreciate everyone's responses.  :salute
