A while ago Lyric1 found me some great photos of an 854th BS B-24 called "The Hard Way". Unfortunately there wasn't a photo of the LH nose which would have had the plane name on it. So I collected as many photos of other 854th B-24s as I could in the faint hope that either this aircraft would be shown in the background or that the naming would follow a fairly standard format. Neither of these turned out to be the case but I did find another 854th aircraft to skin.
This B-24 named "Tubarao" (Portuguese for Shark) flew with the 854th BS between August and October 1944. After a couple of months of repair work it was reassigned as an assembly ship for the 491st Bomb Group.

This may have been discussed in the past, but do you guys know the book "The Mighty Eight in Color?" Coffee table book with most of the fighter and bomber groups and squadrons, and tons of color photos.

Is it the light or, are you experimenting with the micro wrinkles seen in bare aluminum. Everyone's aluminum is really evolving with AH3. WTG..... :aok

I have a skin surface ripple layer in the normal map which creates an uneven surface for the light reflections. It is not a bad looking effect at distance but not so good close up, i.e. looking at your own top wing from the cockpit. The problem is that AH3's texture compression makes the effect go a bit blocky looking. So I keep the effect toned down so its not too distracting.
