Title: The Leading Lady
Post by: Greebo on June 20, 2018, 01:23:59 PM: Thanks to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this update of a B-29 skin originally skinned by Coprhead in 2011.

The Leading Lady was a B-29 of the 500th Bomb Group, 882nd Bomb Squadron based on Saipan from late 1944. On 3rd January 1945 this was one of 57 B-29s that attacked factories in the Osaka area. The Japanese put up a strong fighter force to engage the American bombers and shot down five of them. This included The Leading Lady which was deliberately rammed shortly after bombing the target by a 55th Sentai Ki-61 flown by Lieutenant Shirota Minoru. All but one of the 11 man crew perished when the bomber exploded, Lt Minoru bailed out but succumbed to his injuries a day later.
