Title: Collisions for Ground Vehicles
Post by: Mano on June 29, 2018, 06:31:46 PM
I know this might, just might open a can of worms, but ground vehicles are pretty slow compared to fighters in AH. I see allot of arguments on
200....."He HO'd me"  LOL

The Russians did ram the German tanks with their T-34's. It was a tactic used to stop Panthers and Tigers and any other Panzerwagons from invading Russia. I could  see someone ramming a T-2 with his M-8 to track him to stop a base defender
from covering the map room or AH players ramming with their T-34's as well. I have often wanted to run right over that pesky Jeep   :D or
run through a Storch sitting on the runway just before take off.

I think it would be a great feature for AH to add that element to the game.

 :salute

I think it has something to do with the smoothing code and lag. It has been discussed before.

You can't run over planes anymore?  How are we supposed to have any kind of worthwhile revenge when some one strafes the guys in the turret of my Hellcat?

You don't ram things bigger than yourself, it just hurts to much (I'm talking about IRL tank experience)

HiTech included that into the physics model, they even seem to have gotten the model just right to accurately portray what happens if a 88mm tank gun is fired while its muzzle is inside the turret of a tank.  Looks to me like once again HiTech's good thinking managed to get two birds stoned at once.  <S>

Wonder if he could use the tree un-sticking function to make GV's slide past each other. Could see two tanks doing a waltz stuck to each other in a never ending turn fender to fender trying to bring their main guns to bear.
