This was also emailed.
JG4 is moved to Allied.
JG11 is Axis frame 1 CiC. (and thx for doing it on shorter notice)...
There is an added rule that objectives must be defended by 24 players minimum.
Ok that's it. Thx.

Why did you move that squad? Surely you know how lopsided the player split is now, right?
-
Is is supposed to be 55-45.
Trying to guess the actual side split can be hard...squad #s per frame, type of setup, # of players that get fighters, is it EF, WF, PACIFIC...ect ect ect.
Lets see how she shakes out.
-
My point is that you're setting up one side with a probable 15+ man advantage. Seems to me that with the low player numbers you should not look at the side spit percentage and instead look at the actual numbers in play. An extra 15 guys will make a huge difference in the outcome of game play. and 15 is the low end of what the probable split will be.
Seems to me that you're overcompensating for an Allied fighter disadvantage, but not considering that the Axis has Stukas. It will be a minor miracle if any Stuka pilot can actually make a bomb run given the current numbers. The +45 rule already makes their mission near impossible, but with fewer enemies there was at least a chance to slip into a target - now that chance is all but gone.
-
Yea cause you know them changing sides didn’t help for the fact that y’all still had more at take off, just sayin
-
In flight it was 73 Allied to 71 Axis. If I didn't move them the Axis would have outnumbered the Allied and in this setup that would not work so well. In any case the #s were very close.
-
But isn’t it supposed to be 55-45? That’s what I was trying to get at
-
First of all, if the Allied squads had attendance that averaged the higher side of their commitment numbers, like the Axis squads did, then the 55/45 split would have been held. Not the Axis' fault if you guys can't show up.
Second, the Stukas were still wiped out before the target.
Third, the overall attrition rate was very close on both sides. No side ever had manpower advantage over 6 at any time I checked the players in flight.
This tells me that a 50/50 split would have been better for balance.

I'm not Warloc but I'll put in my 2 cents...
When I do splits, I try my best to make sure everyone gets what they want and I also look at squad numbers historically to see if they are on the lower or higher end of their commitments. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. Due to the min/max numbers there's always a chance that it won't work out as intended and this was one of those times. Summer is always a bit less predictable due to weather, cookouts, parties, etc.
As said in above posts, even with the "disparity" it seems like everything was pretty close.
-
Second, the Stukas were still wiped out before the target.
That's what usually happens when you send them in low and without escort. Had they had even a 4-6 squad of 109G2 it would have been a different outcome.
The 109G2 is the best aircraft in this setup, when the 88s arrived later with escort the 412th P-39s had 1 shot, and not many of us were in position.

Really?
I had my hands full with the Yak-7 horde. Not having much experience in the G2 I was learning as I went. It wasn't the prettiest thing but I got two and wound up drinking beer with a nice German nurse.

He's absolutely correct about the G-2 being the dominant fighter. It has speed and acceleration that the Yak simply cannot match. Their fuselage firepower is similar. G-2 has more cannon, but the Yak has better MG's. It's a trade off of longer duration for greater impact. The yak is much more docile handling and can turn tighter, however.
The Yak is a much closer match for the F-4. it still comes up short on the speed and acceleration, but not by much. Both planes turn well. I believe the F-4 can turn tighter, but the yak handles easier at slow speeds. Might be the second best plane matchup in the game, after 109F-4 vs. Spit V.

Sending JG4 to Allied side was a calculation of the # of 4-6 squads that the Allies at the time of setting the sides up.
There are no "Allied squads that don't show up" in FSO there are just squads.
Stuka tactics and strike tactics are not the area of the CM that's up to the players. There have been plenty of Stuka missions that worked in FSO.
If the 109s want to go low and mix it up with Yaks...also not my problem.
The changes were made before frame 1 not after.

LOL I hate Stukas. They always end up taking somebody with them. I told my guys not to fall for it but they never listen.

He did.. He said "Don't let them shoot you down."
Repeatedly
Got film to prove it.

I was referring to the squads assigned to the Allies side this month.

As a designer and CiC, the one thing you cannot get perfect is attendance. Even if I assign 30 to defend a base, I must know that it could be any where between 20 and 40. As a designer, you must choose a number that you believe is obtainable in terms of attendance. If one side lacks attendance one frame, there is not much you can do. It is not the designer's fault that the side split was not accurate; nor is it anyone's fault. My squad went well over commitment last night for whatever reason. Everyone wanted to fly, which is great. Had we showed up with 7, the sides would have been more even (according to designed side split). Alas, we had 15 (a violation) and that turned the balance of the attack. If attendance continues to grow, I will be forced to go back to 11-15, which I do not mind doing. As part of the attendance/balance problem, KN apologizes.

I felt the Bf 109G-2 should have been limited to perhaps 24, but the log numbers do show a pretty even setup. I agree with Devil the 109F and Yak-7 is a great matchup.
I think we all know that the first FSO frame is the hardest to really guess what will happen, typically the CICs figure out what works and what doesn't by frames 2 and 3.

Darn. Wish I had known that beforehand. Lol

I totally get wanting to keep an eye on balance it's not so easy sometimes. Had the #s been too off for the Axis I would have scrubbed the Stukas and transferred the assigned players to Bf 109Gs before T+0. As it was I think it worked out. We are all aiming for the same thing; to have a balanced and fun event. :salute
