Title: IL-2 F3 mode
Post by: lunatic1 on July 14, 2018, 03:00:27 PM
yes I have wished for this before-- I wish the F3 mode to be reinstated/reinstalled on the IL-2.
really tired of getting shot down by fighters while hunting gv's with no real chance to evade. you will prob say-use hurri-2D or the stuka, I can't hit anything with those.

and if you not going to give the IL-2 F3 mode back then you should take away F3 mode for the JU-87's as well.

the JU-87-G2 is and attack plane like the IL-2-the JU-87-D3 is bomber/attack-both of these planes have F3 mode-not fair for the IL-2 not to have it,
no matter how good some player was in it.

this is my wish-please make it yours and give this wish a +1.
thank you. :joystick:

The F3 view debate could be solved by having F3 work on all bombers - but only in level flight, to prevent DA Lake style impossi-shots.

If anything, not the IL2, but give the storch F3 mode for "spotting".

The IL2 suffered badly from air to air combat. Some pilot interviews on Russian language WW2 sites translated mention the rear gunner acting as a rear observer in air to air fighting. I've been able to set my views in combination with 2-axis TR that I can furball with an IL2. Still, if the rear gunner was the pilot's replacement for a 6 view, make the rear gunner's default view the 6 view for the pilot when he hits the Num_Key2. In the Ju87-G2 your rear view is effectively the rear gunner's view.

+1to the view idea above..until your gunner is killed, then have it switch back to the pilot 6 view.

-1 to f3 view in the il-2. May as well give f3 to every plane with a rear gun. 110 w/ f3 would be sweet.

I'm going to admit something intellectually sad about spotting tanks. Because I did the two years of alpha\beta testing and had to test with post lighting on, I assumed Hitech wanted his customers in AH3 to have it on for the full Monti experience. The last two years my gunnery and tank spotting has been crapola. I accepted this thinking post lighting was a GTX 1000 family optimized type of thing. Last weekend I turned off post lighting, enabled AA 4x at the desktop for the AHDX11 executable and setup my graphics like AH2. Once again I see dots at max distance and if a tank is under a tree and I'm close in the air, I can see it. I'm also hitting cons again in air to air fighting how I expect to by using the 100mph principle and a 100Mil reticle ring. I can see tanks at long range again in a 17lb.

You don't need F3 for the storch, just turn off post lighting and the tanks stand out like in AH2. I like the clouds and sunsets better without post lighting now, they look closer to real world. And there is much better contrast on the water for elevation perception. I never thought to test if post lighting was effecting my gunnery and long range viewing this much with all the other testing I did and do for terrain building.......

I have always been able to furball in an IL2 becasue of how I setup the views to work with TR. I detest doing it since it's not designed for that. Taking one out into a fighter infested area is willfully ignoring reality. F3 is asking Hitech to give you a gamey solution to furballing with a single engined plane that was not designed for air combat. Half the time when the IL2 had F3 mode, when the player pushed the nose down in that famous Ghi move, the collision model killed you not an over shoot shot by Gui. Nice gamey way to win especially if you know how it worked.

The IL10 was to address the lack of maneuverability short coming with a higher speed of 315mph at sea level and better maneuverability. Wish for the IL10, about 120 made it into combat in 1945. The high velocity AP rounds for the VYa-23 23mm canons could penetrate 25mm steel plate at 400m. Only the TigerII engine hatch would be impervious which it already is to the IL2 37mm.

I don't care either way on F3 mode.
Never could shoot anything in F3 mode so not an issue for me.

I could never hit anything in F3, but it allowed me to find and turn toward the bandit before returning to the pilot's position. If the bandit was silly enough to come at me head on, he was dead. That happened all the time as the enemy was anxious for an easy kill.
