Title: Best way to sell used hardware?
Post by: atlau on July 18, 2018, 02:09:05 PM
For those of you who have sold old parts, what is your recommendation on how to sell it. Craigslist? ebay seems like a pain since i have neither an ebay or paypal account. Im looking to sell a used gtx 1060 3gb card.

I have not used it personally but a bud of mine sells stuff through it all the time. He seems to do ok with it and it’s mostly local sales so no mailing and stuff.

I suppose this very forum might be a good way to get rid of that card, there's many who'd love one. Just make a new post titled "GTX 1060 3gb for sale"

Decent cards are hard to come by now because of the coin craze. You should be able to sell one easily for a nice sum. People will pay more than the card is worth.

Yes LetGo is a pretty good way to get rid of stuff you dont want anymore. But it depends on who in your area also uses LetGo. I have used it several times both for selling stuff just sitting around the house and have bought a couple of things on there. I live just outside of DC so there is a big concentration of people. And over here you wouldn't believe what people give away for free. Alot of people that are pretty wealthy (in my book) that upgrade appliances and just give away or offer for cheap. Just a thought. Install the app on your phone, check it out for a  month. If you dont like it you can always uninstall it. So you wont have to worry about creepers calling you since contact with people is only thru the app, unless you provide someone with your phone#
Good luck!

And Flippz....JESUS LOVES YOU   :rock

I donated to Hazmatt a gpu on the condition that he only pay the shipping cost...
not that I need it but I would not recommend not to sell to him  :D

I have seen people on let go drop in parachutes to buy your stuff.  never used it myself, but that would be so cool.

I just managed to stumble across this post.

I was going to send him a check for the shipping but he insisted that I try the card first.

I sure hope it works cause I'm sending the check after that comment! lolz

Just to show I am not the bad guy...
I shipped the HOTAS on 9/6/19 via UPS...
Assuming a 2 week delivery time, it would have been delivered (give or take 2 days)
on 9/28/19
Yes, I did say test it first before he sent the cost of shipping BUT
it is now November... how long does it take to install and test a
GPU?
Does not really matter, I magnanimously will forgive if debt
If HazMatt has sent the check, he can delete it from his
check book because I will shred it
 :aok

The issue is that I put an offer on a house on Aug 15 and it fell through and then got approved for a short sale so I'm under contract again.

It's difficult to test a video card when I am living in my rv and all my computer stuff is in storage. I did not anticipate still being in the RV.

Forget the eBay/paypal route of selling items.... I hate it when eBay takes a percentage of your sold price

HTC setting up this classifieds forum was a great idea and has served this community very well (outside of a few that may have gotten upset with me over the years, which I blame my dementia on for causing the mix ups and misunderstandings)

I would rate my dealings on this classifieds forum around 98.5 to 99 % positive on both ends whether buying or selling... and I have done a  heck of a lot of dealings on this forum....

Just a friendly observation

I have sold or traded a few things. Always used PayPal, they have the option of sending money with no fees.
