Title: A mention system

It would be great to have a mentioning system, it is super helpful in some forums I'm on:

It is great if you just want to tag someone to a particular topic without having to PM them.

Doesn't our Simple Machines forum application have subscriber groups and the ability to blind target specific users for notifications if enabled already? I could be wrong but I thought I saw something like that in the help forums for this BBS app when I was helping solve a problem with POTW's forum which uses the same forum app. I don't think Skuzzy has enabled the full menu of user functions available as a business choice.

I saw him post in another subforum and just about blew coffee over my keyboard. Welcome back TK.

OM - he's fine. He's little grouchy on Sunday evenings - but happy on Tuesdays...can't figure out why yet...and I've known him for almost 15 years...

Keeping on target - I like it because the forum system will let you know you were mentioned in a post - which is a great way to build interaction in the forums.  You'll post something, forget you did, and for weeks go along that someone asked you a question and you just plum forgot... vs

@Larry - about the spaghetti incident last night... -> and the forum will send you an email that you were mentioned in a post or that someone quoted you.

Helps me out a tonne in other forums to remind that someone was mentioning you or quoted a comment you made.

Sounds like a good "option" to have... especially if it allows the user to have the choice to either use it or not

Not  sure I understand.  We need a mentioning system. why and why?


Every idea we come up with should be predicated with

"Would my wife agree..." or "'would my SO agree..."

First question before all others...
