Are we supposed to be able to fire the rear facing cannons while in periscope mode(Key-2)?
-
I thought that question would be best directed to Skuzzy or Dale, I mean it's their game

Dale and/or Skuzzy, are we supposed to be able to fire the rear guns through the AR234's telescope view? :neener:

hit the periscope button and find out ?

The periscope reticle in the PV1B does not have a slew cross hair like the reticle in our 234. The image below shows the reticle for the periscope used in the Ar234. The second one down would be used for the 20mm and point to an aim-point viewable above the stab.

In addition, it would be nice to be able to maneuver while in the periscope view.

You can not fire the periscope while in the sight.

Get the extinguisher...... reports of a fire in the periscope...... this is not a drill :bolt:

Is there a reason for this?
I can think of a few historical reasons why it shouldn't fire. :devil

Here is the reason and why it never worked.

So this is kind of what you would be looking at with an enemy aircraft on your six.

Think about the control surface inputs you would need to fly the plane onto the target at your rear.
Plus looking though a field of vision like this actual AR-234B rear view of the recon version periscope.

Yes there is a reason, but it's technical. No way to do both of firing a gunner position gun from the pilot, or a pilot gun from the gunner. So we chose to fire it from the pilots position because there is no way to pitch the plane from the gunners position.

Saw the aircraft back to front? Or like it was in front of them? Did Peter Griffin write that piece of incredible stupidity?

Thank you.

Yes the rear view through the periscope on the bomber version that was supposed to have rear guns, gave the pilot the illusion it was in front of him and they were nose to nose.

Is this going to be developed more in the future? I love the idea of being able to use the periscope to shoot, and if we could shoot and maneuver in it that would be awesome.

The only thing I can think of doing would be give the option at load out of shoot in gunner position or shoot as pilot. Trying to make the plane flyable when in the gunner position is not worth the time investment.

Copy that. :salute
While we're on the subject of 234s...how about that DT only loadout I've been wishing for? :D
