Title: A Thought for a new ride
Post by: RODBUSTR on August 12, 2018, 04:42:32 AM
I fly bomber missions a lot more now because I am almost sure of getting some fighter action, but ammo runs low when you have to fight off 9 or 10 planes per sortie.   Heck a lot of times I go up without bombs just to shoot it our with the fighters.  So think about the YB-40.  A fighter would not know If it was a B17g or YB-40 until it got close.  and well.

Yeah........and leave the icon just saying "b17" for both bomber and gunship.

You know the Y in the name denotes a prototype model, right? Practically speaking, you'd also lose formations and be 10x more vulnerable than a standard 3-ship formation that we have already. They were so heavy that when the bombers they were "escorting" dropped their bombs, they got left behind and pounced on with very bad results. They also never served in squadron strength, and never had a production run.

The old requirements were: 1) Production models only (no prototypes or field mods), 2) had to serve in unit strength at least (no 1-offs, etc), 3) had to see combat (qualifies for this, but not the others)

I like it, let's get an XF-11 and an XF5F, too.  :aok

Strangely, as anyone who has tried to engage you in the MA will testify, the one thing you're certainly not interested in is engaging in 'fighter action'  (http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/8443/crazy6.gif)

As for the OP's premise.   -100000000

That experiment was an abject failure.  We really have more pressing needs than a gimmick.

I’m following the theme.

nrshida "troll Patrol"  Look at My stats. I may have a higher percentile of Bomber kills than most, but that is because I  seek Them out because so many players won't.  They are the reason pursuit planes were invented in the first place... From the looks of Your stats you prefer to be a target ,  Have a blast.

This isn't the ETO and speed of them would not matter in AH because The y would not be escorts. They had a fair kill record for Their brief service life, but The all seeing eye is gone and Bufftarding is back to the lonely boring play it was and I'm back to fighters.

nrshida "troll Patrol"  Look at My stats.

I don't believe MA stats necessarily represent one's ability or worth in combat very much, as our relative stats might suggest. I have my own evaluation, a qualitative one, and you fit into the: couldn't-drive-a-greasy-stick-up-a-dog's-arse category, which is why (and probably because) you avoid 'fighter action' so much.

You're also pretty good at blowing 15k's worth of energy immediately and seeking your ack out when you merely see a co-alt opponent in the same plane.

Your request is essentially a trick to get easy kills by conning other players -1,000,000,000.

Bombers are the easiest targets in this game.   :old:

Having fought both of you...  My money is on Shida, hands down.  No contest.    Not bagging on anyone, just calling it like I see it.

I really would prefer he could out-fly me. But no. He'll sure be into the fight balls-deep though if you're already engaged or you are damaged. Perhaps such players have become a focal point manifesting the entire 'avoid combat' brigade while at the same time convincing themselves they are awesome (I mean, just look at his score!). I think specifically Rodbustr's blustering presentation is ironic, given he flies like a nine-year old girl, in a tutu, crying for mama and running away from every fair fight he's offered leaking yellow fluid from the cockpit region. Presumably some kind of coolant.

Sorry, as Zack says I am triggered and ought to go to my safe place  :old: :rofl

And a B26 you can target as much as you want, he still won't come down unless you are in a very favorable position.
You have fill it with so much led it will get tail-heavy and fall because of COG , more than a bit strange for a bird know for it's fragile wings.

I have no problem with them.   But I use six .50s to saw them apart.   YMMV with cannon.

Checking nrshida's stats for time  played , We are about par for kills.  The difference is I get shot down about 10 times less. and vraciu"s statement that bombers are easiest to shoot down.   maybe but so many players don't take the time. It is a niche that need to be filled for  a winning strategy. Also   from vracui's stats, It looks like  He stays  away from Buffs .  It has been a very long time since he even tried to shoot down a B29.  Have a blast.

I find this hard to believe.  Then again, I usually see Nrshida fighting three guys by himself, probably the same three guys you are running to for help.  Context is everything.   Kills over time.   Time of day playing.  Hit %.  All of these things matter, too.

The guy is a fabulous dogfighter.   You would get slaughtered.   Sorry.

This has to be the funniest thing I have ever read.

Ask Elec1, App75, and the other top BUFF drivers if I avoid them.  They will all tell you that I am a deadly bomber hunter and that we have great mutual respect for each other's skill.

Speaking of avoiding, looks to me like you avoid fighters.   I avoid neither.

I don't have to time to waste on B-29s.   They can fly around by themselves up at 35K.  I would rather go shoot down six B-24s/B-17s/Lancs than chase astronauts.

I have shot down over well over a dozen B-29s (remember, stats follow the callsign not the player).  It's just boring and takes way too long to do for very little enjoyment or fun.

Just looked.

- Shida kills at more than twice the rate you do per hour (while generally outnumbered).  :old:
- He has double the kills/sortie. :old:
- He has more kills per death by a large margin (while generally outnumbered). :old:
- His hit percentage is six times what yours (3%) is. :old:

I can go on but...

How does this equate to you getting shot down ten times less than he does?     :headscratch:

No Rodbustr is right bud. He dies 1/10th of the time I do. He's clearly more valuable to the essential war effort while I'm just a dilettante hobbyist mucking around in a Ki-84 because I can't afford an air-cooled 911. Sniff.

I just can't apply myself. I'm not competitive, inefficient and undisciplined. I treat this whole thing like a game. It's a disgrace! (http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/k526/rwrk2/MickeyMouse.gif)

Back to the OP for a moment, I support this wish if Rodbustr and only Rodbustr can have this plane. Think about it!

You scrub!   Lol

(I just looked and my rates are all better than Rod’s, too, and that’s after spending the whole tour intentionally putting myself in bad situations to practice.    Also bailing from underaged planes to switch bases for a fight.   I suck.  Oh, and bombers make me sad.)  :cry
