Boy was I slow on the uptake. You would think after all the bridges and roads Ive put into my terrains this would have been obvious from the start. You can gang as many bridge segments as you want and then run a road or rail road track across the top to support convoys, trains and your tank. You need to determine what the road bed elevation is for the type of bridge you are using. Because you will have to adjust the road or track to that elevation relative to the bridge object.
This is great for the AI convoys and trains. As a practical bridge, at every bridge segment meeting, from your tank you will see into the body of the next bridge for a few moments. But, you can drive across it.
Here is what I cobbled together today to test it. For long bridges it's a good idea to make a bridge group of 2-6 segments to then keep laying down to speed up production time.

Buster, do you see the bug reporter re Oceania and the broken bridges?
-
Hitech has to fix those now since I no longer own the project files. They are part of the HTC terrain revision process. I looked at them and it's either raise the ground or lower the bridge. Remember I did all that before Hitech rolled out the new road\track\river function so I had to hand cut the rivers with all the issues involved. I did everything I could to find tiny edge problems like that. It was a daunting task at times up that close and I thought I had caught all of them.
If Hitech makes his Oceania project files available to me and requests I fix this issue, yes I will comply. Otherwise, Hitech has to fix it.

I have no idea what you're talking about. That does not stop me from appreciating the time and effort you put in. Thanks.
HONK!

Understand. Great work on the terrain, regardless.

we in the AVA, have that invisible bridge problem, with some of the AVA terrains. we've had it for quite some time. sometimes, when you look behind you. it does the same thing. mostly we just live with it. we make some of ours destructible just for fun.
-
They are possible now in the MA with the path function where our game is first seen by potential new customers. Unless Hitech has a limit on the number of grouped bridge segments for FPS reasons. Going forward all new MA terrains are required to have active resupply roads, rails, rivers. That added a month onto my finishing my last terrain just getting the country wide road networks in. Hitech does not allow destruction of bridges in the MA.
I have always explained that the AvA has objects that Hitech will not allow in the MA due to FPS concerns. The MA has been a slow evolution of things like this due to FPS and large numbers of customers in small areas. I think you know that.

Can You imagine pt boats hiding under the bridge lol

It's all in the CARDS

Can we get trolls under these bridges?
Of course I prefer sheep, but it seems HTC do not feel confident enough to model such a noble and magnificent being. Trolls are ugly, stupid, and imaginary, so they are easier to model.

Are you saying I should be under a bridge? :rofl

I can imagine M-8's hiding under a bridge.

It would also be fun if we could destroy a bridge and it stays down 15 minutes (like the hangars). There would be lots of GV's on both sides of the river duk'in it out.
:aok

You would have a race to destroy bridges, then greifers monitoring the timer and players avoiding feilds with that kind of bridge. Hitech does not want that in the MA. I've spent 2 years watching you guys to understand how to build the micro terrain on riftval. I was going to wish list a possible destructible bridge type for trains and convoys that would have the same effect as killing the train or convoy. Problem is you will know where a fixed bridge is and have a timer, a convoy is in motion and will be missed in some attempts to see it. Sure if we were modeled after ww2online and the game required stopping armored advances and resupply if we were really playing WW2, and not just tank furballing while trying to capture a flag.

Mano, we do this on a regular basis in the AVA. swing on on a Thursday night tank fight and you'll get to see it. most of the time, the bridge doesn't get killed but everyone else does!! LOL

our bridges have rounded ends so you don't have to span them so far. also I think we found a way to fix that invisibility problem. we'll know soon.

ive added pt boat spawn in one of my terrains so you can do exactly that! unfortunately against a tank, the PT boats die miserably!! LOL

He is saying to load plenty of TP in you PT on Tank Night.

That looks like an Italian bridge... too soon???

I like flying under the bridges on Oceania. Can Wirblewinds depress their guns below horizontal? :P
