WW2OL's business model is terrible. Which explains the desperation they are facing.

Can you elaborate on the desperation aspect?
I seriously had no idea they were still in business.

The original dev team bailed on it, it's entirely volunteers working on stuff and trying to keep the lights on.
To be fair, they've accomplished more in the last little while than CRS did in the last several years they ran the game.

What’s their player base like?

Dangerously small.

WW2OL had good aspirations, but the devs constantly tweaking the code and the need to artificially balance everything drove me away.

Atleast they are bringing their engine into XXIst century

Either that last guy has seen a ghost or Mr. Bean is in the infantry

I liked WWIIOL many years back. It was horrible for air combat, but I liked other aspects. It did take a very long time to get into action, at least for me.

That scenery looks like wall paper...

Yep. The flight model was abysmal IIRC.
-
What I didn't like about the airplanes in WWIIOL were:
-- no icons until you were very close. That made it way too hard to see planes.
-- no ability to move head position (so most rear views were hopeless).
-- no ability to start in any allied fighter other than a hurricane or similarly very slow planes.
All of this meant, take up Hurricane, endure endless passes from 6 o'clock from 109's you couldn't see until they were in firing range.
And there weren't many pilots flying in it.
All of those things together made it suck.
What I liked: feel of takeoffs and landing (bounding along the ground), and the look of the airfields (many that were all grass).
Aces High was and is infinitely better for air combat.

I am in negotiations with Hitech and have bought AH for $450.
I will endeavour to bring in new players and supply each and everyone of you a signed photograph of myself riding a lama and goat in the idyllic highlands of Scotland :old:
I thank you :old:

Lama's in Scotland? Now that sounds fishy :uhoh

They are planning to use UE4, which is pretty. But it also has high overheads and sacrifices stuff like visibility range. PUBG uses UE4, and the visibility range is not far - it's alright for PvP on foot, but tanks? No. Ships... maybe because the sea is boring. Planes? Hell no.
If they can make it work good on them. But seeing is believing, especially with CRS. I played hard out for a year or so and got a good taste of the CRS attitudes (and those that wished to run each side).

I'm going to repeat a question to you Nugetx that I know you have been asked before-but be warned I'm going to yell it so you will see the question.
WHAY DON'T YOU DEVELOPE A GAME OF YOUR OWN? MAKE IT YOU'RE WAY, YOU SEEM TO HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS, ASK YOUR PARENTS TO TAKE OUT A LOAN SO YOU CAN START YOUR OWN GAMING EMPIRE.
hire some people to help you develop the game with the promise of a percentage of the proceeds.
find a company for sell and get parents to get a loan to buy it.
