That must have been some tsunami earthquake. :x Never heard about it on the news.
Hello! Reply Asap,
I am Mr. Collins Kwame, a banker here in Ghana. I write you this proposal in good faith hoping that I will rely on you. In 2007, Mr. Hudson who has your country in his file as his place of origin, made a fixed deposit of Eight Million, Five Hundred Thousand USA Dollars (US$8,500,000.00 with my bank. I was his account officer. Unfortunately, while on a business trip, he died in a deadly Tsunami earthquake in Sichuan China, in 2008 that killed many people.
The management of our bank have been finding a means to reach him so as ascertain if he will want to roll over the deposit or have the contract sum withdrawn, when I discovered that this will happen, I learnt of his death, so I have tried to think up a procedure to preserve this fund and use the proceed for charity. Some directors have been trying to find out from me the information about this account and the owner, but I have kept it closed because, I know that if they become aware, they will corner the funds for themselves.
Therefore, I am seeking your co-operation to present you as the one to benefit from his fund at his death since you are from the same country with him, so that my bank head quarters will pay the funds to you. I have done enough inside bank arrangement and only have to put in your details into the information network in the bank computers and reflect you as his next of kin.
I immensely request for your optimum honesty and cooperation and Let me know your mind on this, and please do treat this information as Top secret. We shall go over the details once I receive your urgent response to my email - [co_kwame@hotmail.com], we can as well discuss this on phone. Send me your phone number for easy communication anticipating your communication.
Best Regards,
Mr. Collins Kwame.

Ghana? Guess the word on Nigerian 419 finally got out.

All you have to do is give him your personal bank account info and he’ll direct deposit all the money to you. Or, you can send him a several thousand dollar processing fee and he’ll mail you a check. Either way it’s a lose lose situation. :rofl

I am from the same country with him too :old:

The logic of using diminished language and logic when creating these solicitations, (robo calls about the irs arresting you as well,) is that from the scammers point of view time is money and they don't want any leads that are not completely credulous. Let the mass mailing or robo call be transparently a scam and the only people who will respond are fat juicy targets for your top closers.
After fielding a couple calls from "Microsoft" about the dire state of my mothers computer,(what computer?,) I am convinced that the phone numbers for the apartments where she lives are traded on some kind of market dealing in potential sucker leads, (it is a retirement community.)
In a related way this is why I never answer the phone if I don't recognize the number as I am also convinced that a phone number that answers is worth more than one that doesn't.
What I would like to know is if the current epidemic of robo scam calling would be relatively easy to fix but would cost money or if it is somehow impossible to deal with.

That is... almost impressive in its level of evil. I always wondered why they are like that. It's always bothered me that they wouldn't do it if it didn't work.
I had one leave me a voicemail from the IRS that almost had me wondering if it was legit until he pushed a little too hard.
My father once kept a guy on the line for about half an hour trying to get him to connect to their server so they could fix the viruses on his computer. He got the guy to the point where he cussed him out and hung up.
Wiley.

Had a female from MS try the same Wiley. I asked her where she was calling from and she replied with some little town in Ohio. In the mean time I had checked the area code for her phone number. I then asked her why the Ohio town and her phone number area code didn't match. She began to stutter and then hung up. I had some time on my hands so strung her along.
