Title: Aircraft Brakes Always Applied
Post by: Glasher 1st on September 23, 2018, 08:43:28 PM
There may be info missing but since this is a rewrite of the deleted prior text, lol, screw it!

The brakes on any aircraft I spawn have the breaks always applied to what seems about 20% to 40%. I have the brakes mapped to a slider on my Saitek X52 Pro controller and kept it always set to zero until needed. There was sound and Help Channel issues prior to the brake thing and after closing and loading the game a few times there was no fix. After un and reinstalling the game, the sound and channel issues were fixed.

Then came the brake issue. I reinstalled the game three more times w/o a fix. This included unmapping all key and analogue setting that had anything to do with the brakes and continued to look for anything else that mentioned BRAKE.

Your thoughts on this is appreciated.

You know the which stick it is and here's the rest of the pertinent sys info:

Windows 8.1
Core i7 4.0GHz
16GB DDR3
GTX 1080 4GB

Did you try calibrating the slider and adding some deadband?

I tried that as well. Can't think of what I hadn't tried. But like everything I have tried, I'll revisit that.

But like I said, The brakes aren't mapped to anything now. Should be non-active brakes, NOT!

It sounds like the Axis isn't calibrated, or being viewed correctly. When "calibrating" the axis/slider that you are using dont slide it all the way down. Pick a spot 20% from the bottom and stop there and move it back to full throw. Save it and them retest.

Another thing would be to use the raw data from the config file in the settings folder. Look at the file for the stick/throttle your "slider" is on with the text editor (notebook works well) and manually change the numbers for that axis, remembering to save the file.

Sry having to repeat, The Fugitive, but maybe it'll help if I elaborate. Before I started the original post for this, thinking that there might be a calibration issue somewhere, I had already removed any and all brake mapping so that the plane should now free-wheel and coast only. No matter what.

This is a recent happening since I began in AH in 2005. I don't feel comfortable changing files in a game that should be correct to begin with even after several repeated installations (and yes, uninstalled first).

Thank you for all the effort you put into in your reply!  8)

Since you have unmapped the slider and the problem persists, check the mappings of any controllers listed including mouse and keyboard.

There IS an Auto Braking select option since 3 or 4 patches ago..maybe you missed it?

What happens in a plane with no brakes like the F2b? Is it possible you don't have full power instead of brakes partially on?

And 1stpar3 gets the cigar! Clipboard / Options / Preferences / Flight / First column, Auto Breaking. Yes I missed that Update, creating a temporary foolish self-image. Thank you for the solve! <S>

Thank you all for your thoughts, effort and input! Issue solved!  =<S>=
