Title: Todd's $0.02 worth. GV Dar and soft skins
Post by: toddbobe on October 29, 2018, 09:32:19 AM
In my very humble opinion GV dar for soft skins is actually discouraging fights. Soft skins have to contend with that their skin is softer than a college student at a MAGA rally, no real offensive weapons, base flash, engine sound, FI's AND now GV dar... I used to love sneaking strategic bases behind enemy lines, which would always cause a big fight to recapture it.... and it added some surprise into the game. Now that is not possible because the enemy can see us driving for a sector.

I understand GV dar for the big boys, but cant soft skins get some love too and get an exception to GV dar?

Lucky that now you can start a fight for the base to start with.  :aok

Sigh..........on one hand I can kinda see the OP's point, but on the other hand, the arena is about combat, or it used to be.
Take away the "soft skinned" vehicles armament, and he might have a point.  It's the whole notion that these guys want to be able to affect game play, capture bases, and if possible avoid detection (and therefore combat) that makes me oppose the idea.
They can already hide under trees, can see aircraft coming from what, 10K, 12K away?  Yet the aircraft don't get an icon til under 1.5K, and therefore have only a split last second chance to maneuver for a shot.
My thought would be to do away with the GV dar completely, but at the same time, increase the GV icon range to 3K max, and at the same time limit the range at which GV's can ID an enemy plane to 3K.

Another possibility is to setup a custom arena and turn down lethality to 0.

how often did armor roll solo? get ten to fifteen players to put together a proper column (with the rides we have) and assault a base. If each piece of armor does it's job, thin skins will be fine.

At EU prime time 15 is the number of players per side in flight.

Am I the only one to ask what a "soft skin" is? Would that be lightly armored vehicles such as M-18 and M-8?

So, you’re recommending organizing and teamwork?  That’s a great concept.  Now, to just get 15 players to go same way, same day.  Love the concept.

It's always easier in theory than application.

for the EU guys, it sucks and I'm not sure how to try and recruit in that market.

I think what your asking for is what AA II setting were for both Planes and GV's ....correct me if I.m wrong
