I mean if you can somehow manage to make it back with a blown off wing or an engined oiled I feel you should be able to have that plane fixed and what not, ok so maybe not a new plane but like a patched up plane than where you can get your engine patched up and more oil in it, or just something along those lines

Just re-up a new plane.
-
if your plane cant take off, you need to end the sortie and up a new plane.
Or
Add a 12 hour MX timer to repair the plane before take off is permitted again.

FSO has always been about the 1 life - 1 plane setting, forever. We used to give 2nd lives to B5N pilots in the past, that's something we haven't done in a while.
Maybe it's time to consider something new with numbers so low. I always wanted to try something similar to how Combat Challenge works for FSO. This would especially be helpful in situations where a side gets wiped out, or can't fly 2nd sorties due to formations or distance to target.
In the FSO design, set a secondary aircraft that becomes enabled at T+60. For example, in this last FSO it might have been 109F4 vs Yak-7B. But it doesn't necessarily have to be a earlier plane, it could be a force multiplier for sides like the Soviets to have Yak-9Ts while the Germans have Bf 109G-2 or G-6.
You could disable flight again at T+90, or leave it open till T+120. Just might be something to try and maybe keep people engaged for the entire 2 hours. <S>

I’m just sayin not even a brand new plane where you tower out and what not, I had this in general but I guess it coulda been wish list honestly, but like how war thunder does it, where if your plane is shot to hell and you somehow land it on a runway, you can get that plane fixed up.
I’m sayin like if you can get your plane back to the re-arm pad the pad should not only give you your ammo back, but if your engine took a hit, or are missing an elevator or aileron, that should be fixed and you can fly normally again. I know this game is trying to get a tony bit more arcady but also keep some realism, but why not make let us have our plane fixed as well.
I just know that i have had to tower out due to a rudder missing cause that is not fun flying without a rudder. Not sure how hard it would be tho to change the rearm pad into a rearm repair pad. Idk just my 2 cents.

... like how war thunder does it ...
At that point the argument sank. :D

FSO is unique to the Aces High Environment. To change it to something resembling Combat Challenge is IMO would kill it. CC has a much lower participation rate than FSO and in my view is just an extension of the MA furballs with side scoring. If you want FSO to last beyond T+90, then adjust the objectives or the rules.

Holy cow we agree on something
as an aircraft MX guy (20+ yrs), the saying "it takes a college edumacation to break it and a high school one to fix it"
applies, for an engine troop, structural repair, environmental, electricians, wheel and tire, fuels, hydro, weapons etc... to fix an aircraft as you have described would take a whole new aircraft from the manufacturer. If they attempted a repair it would take months to accomplish.
my point?
It's not practical for the game in the sense of game play and it would skew any scoring system being used, as that AC would be a total loss and a brand new to you aircraft would be available for you to get shot up in.

Each side could have a limited number of reserve aircraft; this isn't totally unrealistic. Players who successfully land a damaged aircraft would have the option to replane once and loose some points for the damaged aircraft or tower out for the night with no loss of points. Trying new things once in awhile even if unsuccessful won't kill the event, instead it helps move things forward. Becoming too entrenched in a predictable routine is what needs to be avoided.

FSO design already makes use of multiple lives (this is above and beyond returning on a wing and a prayer, with players being shot down and able to fly as a brand new pilot and plane). I've re-upped with a missing stabilizer to avoid using a spare life. What the OP wanted was something that the game isn't even programmed to do.
As the game works, currently, reserve planes and reserve pilots are basically the same thing and they are inextricably tied to one another. No surplus pools. X lives per player. If someone can prove me wrong with an arena setting I was unaware of, I will gladly be set straight.

That is made available for Scenarios with landing damaged aircraft successfully and taking off with a new plane without losing a life. FSO is designed on the concept that the aircraft is 100% at start of the mission and when the aircraft is able to return and land with damage, then the pilot has to choose either retire the aircraft from further action to be repaired before the next mission (following week) or get back into action with the damage and take the chance of being shot down.

last time I checked, FSO is a one life event. if you re-up a plane, its cheating. if you plane is damaged and you rearm, you either fly it the way it is or tower out and ask to gun for someone. if people are reupping damaged planes in the FSO id really like to know about that!!
