Would it be possible to have a "town" object for placement on Special Events maps? It would just be a town without the maproom, for example. This would be a good representation for towns that were not large industrial centers.

You can one off set down all those buildings from the object list as your village or town or factory. Then highlight and "Save Shape Group" as a custom group object. Then if you want roads, use the path tool to lay down view only segments. It's a bite first time, then after that you have the saved object group and probably a better chance of getting your custom town. And the custom group object won't be as limited as 1x1 square objects for placement and orientation or, like painting down the villages from the Euro Summer tile set. You will be able to reuse the custom group across all tile sets.

That just might work...that is done in the object editor? Or is the save group option in the TE itself? Maybe I will have to play with it.

In the TE under the objects tab. When you highlight and save you end up with a file like below. It should save in the groups folder under ah3terr. I set down these three bridges so I could then set the group object down an additional 4 times to cross a canyon. Then I ran a view only road path across the span. Make one town or village, highlight and save as a group object repeated times. Be carfule about the size for FPS purposes.
