Title: Invert Y For Mouse View
Post by: ccvi on December 05, 2018, 05:21:52 PM
Options / Preferences / View Options / Mouse View has checkboxes "Invert X" and "Invert Y".

I wish they did work for Mouse View, as the box around the checkboxes indicates.

They seem to invert only the mouse in guns, but do not have any impact whatsoever on the mouse view. It's a bit strange that the mouse acts on the gun without being configured to do so in the controller mapping. Simply by enabling mouse views it moves the guns.

The default sensitivity (slider in the middle is the default? I don't think I ever moved it, but of course it can be a default inherited from ages ago through updates, and not be todays default) seems pretty coarse. The smallest physically possible movement with the mouse causes a signfiicant step (to provide an example of how coarse: bomber gun, looking at a drone, one tick moving the mouse from left off an engine to the right of the engine - but impossible to aim at the engine itself). Maybe the default should be much further to the left?

Note: I had "Disable all mouse controls" set since about ever. Something never felt right, and I never bothered to re-check. It looks like it may have been that invert not working thing.

Is no-one using invert-y, or no-one using mouse-look (gun aiming only), or does the game behave differently for looking and shooting only for me?

Call of duty asks "Invert mouse" after the first few seconds of introductory gameplay, and behaves perfectly consistently from that point on.

I have a thumb ball mouse. I aim all turret and manned guns with it. I use it to mouse view in Ctrl_H when I'm testing without TR enabled. I've never had to adjust the options for my mouse. It makes the wirble deadly since I can naturally hold the trigger(index finger) and pan with my thumb with my wrist braced. It's more precise than a hand motion table style mouse.

When you pull the top of the ball towards yourself, do you aim higher or lower, and does your view tilt up or down?

My aim gets higher but my vision gets blurry.

:(  What does this have to do with flying?

Most flying in here is by visuals, and the mouse might be a suitable input device to set the view. If it did work in a meaningful way.

I'll take a look , they are supposed to invert the mouse look function.

During the beta when Hitech had us testing the mouse commander green ring, I did a comparison test setting the mouse as my main controller. I had no problems there since pushing forward lowered the nose and raising up raised it. It works fine for me that way when I Shift_H to use the mouse to look around since it's exactly the way I use it to shoot in GV and manned guns.

Push mouse forward - lookdown
Pull mouse up ------- lookup

I dislike the mouse kicking in while playing now.
